By overall units: ASIB, TUNA may feel bigger since it had more hits tho.

last time I checked ASIB still charts WW while the other barely does

y'all act like Ariana dropped her album and left when she's been promoting everywhere from April 2018 to the last concert of her tour, the album also had 3 fully pushed singles WW and promo singles and other in between singles added to her era I guess while ASIB just ran its course with the movie and kept smashing whenever people saw the greatness of the movie, there's a reason why Shallow is getting more streams than 7R/TUN and why ARUTW/INLA get more streams than break up despite not being fully released to every demographic in this world

also not pushing the narrative of more songs which aren't streaming friendly and the OST having literal DIALOGUES in between

breathin (september 2018) was released before TUN as a single (november 2018) and yet despite new push from a new release sweetener couldn't even reach 100 weeks like her predecessor did...

not Arianators also acting above awards when they could use the "sweetener won a grammy over reputation" narrative repeatedly or the "Ariana has Grammys while the other ex acts don't", don't spit on what you get now cause she was rightfully left empty handed for her projects

It's cute that it still charts with 3 units in Switzerland, but I think BB's more important. And once again: it gains 500k less streams on the daily despite having double of TUN's number of songs. And Breathin MV was released in November, by the way, that's what I meant.

She literally dropped the album on Feb 9th and didn't promote it until full a year later at the Grammy's. She could have easily capitalized more on the album's hype in 2019 and effortlessly close the 500k gap in CM units, but she chose to simply not. She moved on to other things and let the era die on its own (Monopoly, Boyfriend, Good As Hell, Don't Call Me Angel etc.)

Sweetener is literally still doing more daily streams than Chromatica and that's with 50% of its streams coming from Ari's song ROM :gaycat6: What is this useless point about not being able to do 100+ weeks on BB :gaycat6: Did ASIB help Chromatica? :gaycat6:

I love how casually monsters treat a $120m marketing budget film as a normal studio album that had no advantages :bibliahh:Yes people just simply watched ASIB because of its greatness :gaycat6: Delulus. I guess now if we use the argument that Madge has a smash and acclaimed Jazz album with I'm Breathless (vs. love for sale) you can't use the movie as an excuse for it having greater exposure :ducky:

And idk what you're talking about, I think Grammy's are trash and have thought that since ever :bibliahh:

Thank You, Next purely because she did it solo. Comparing motion picture soundtracks with gigantic promotional campaigns behind them to regular studio albums is absolutely senseless.

ASIB total streams (20+ songs): 4b

7R + TUN + BUWYG - 4b

TUN also does 500k more daily steams on Spotify (despite having only half the amount of tracks) and is still charting on BB unlike the other.

Ariana is too busy having multiple smashes simultaneously (and released Sweetener literally one month before ASIB's release but yall casually let that info slip)

44 minutes ago, Jjang said:

TUN spent 160+ weeks on BB and you can count on it to re-chart any week (it only left 2-3 weeks ago and it casually re-charts, ASIB doesn't) :rip:

According to CM there's only a 500k difference in terms of units and on average TUN moves 3,500 more weekly units (again, despite only having half amount the songs ASIB has)

Awards literally don't matter and even then ASIB is eligible for x100 more awards since it's attached to a movie :gaycat6:

Not you failing to understand my Sweetener point. :ducky: It's about consumption. Sweetener was only released one month prior to ASIB (breathin was released after TUN single for instance) and both eras sandwiched ASIB. While Gaga's 2018/2019 consumption was 8.8m Ariana's was 14m during the exact same time period. :ducky: Not counting other minor hit songs like boyfriend, monopoly, GAH remix,DTS, DCMA etc. Obviously it could have been a lot more focused and bigger had she focused on one thing and promoted it consistently like Gaga was for like half a year promoting ASIB.

This + they pretend ASIB's $120m marketing budget is no promo :gaycat6:

We have countless examples of over pomoted movies and soundtracks that flopped into oblivion :fan:

The GP only knows Shallow was in that movie

ARUTW has outstreamed every song from Katy's catalog since the streaming era started, let's not  :toofunny3:

OT: I think once you factor in the success of the movie (we are talking about them as full eras) then ASIB easily has the edge. TUN was obviously huge though.

I don't get what's the point of literally ignoring everything I said. :rip:

ASIB had a 6 months head-start, 2,510 x 180 = 452,000 so actually the difference is minimal af. :ducky:And again: Ariana wasn't bound to TUN like Gaga was to ASIB - hence why she had multiple smash projects going on for her simultaneously. Had she promoted TUN consistently from Feb-December she would have easily surpassed ASIB, no problem. But by then she was already moving onto other projects/songs.

Except I never said ASIB didn't smash. :rip: I'm just saying that this narrative the monsters are trying to push that TUN is this big pushed promoted era in comparison to ASIB is simply misleading.

And it's not an imaginary number. Deadline literally share these numbers :bibliahh:ASIB had a $36m production budget and a $116m marketing budget as per Deadline's report. The fact that the monsters pretend like a $120m marketing budget push (and the movie includes Shallow three times, and the other two songs as well) is this obscure indie project that successed cause of sheer greatness is delusional.

I couldn't care less about Madonna's panned film career, but even in her absolute lowest and most panned lane - 14 years into her career, Madonna's top 5 biggest movies accumulated a gross of one billion dollars in 2022 money. cm.gif  Evita, DT, ALOTO all out-grossed HOG and DSS out-grossed HOG in the US (it was only released in the US and the UK) but you continue pretending like getting a lobbied movie role every 5 years while completely giving up on your artistry is what Madonna fans crave. :rip:

Also Madge has a smash Jazz album cm.gif

CM:

I'm Breathless - 12,633,000

C2C - 1,775,000

L4S ~ 200,000

See when you're a talented Jazz singer :ducky:

I guess ASIB? I mean it had a Hollywood blockbuster attached to it :rip:

The way liddos are speaking of ASIB's success, you'd think it was far ahead of TUN :skull:

OT: ASIB was slightly bigger album-wise, but TUN as an album and its singles had much more chart longevity.

Either way, this is not a fair comparison considering TUN was carried by Ariana and her star power, whereas ASIB was backed up by a successful movie and a whole campaign to promote the soundtrack which was one of the main attentions of the movie.

Oh so now you're able to acknowledge that a soundtrack accompanying a hit movie gains greater exposure than just a studio album :bibliahh:checkmate.

Not you attacking my braincells now cause you're mad :bibliahh:Vogue is one song.  The album is literally classified as Jazz / Swing.

A hit/acclaimed movie and role, a smash Jazz album and a song/video that brought underground culture to the mainstream (something Gaga has always set to do and failed) as well as reviving House music all in one punch? Sheesh. So much to be pressed about :ducky:

thought I'd end up with Sean but he wasn't a match, wrote some songs about Ricky now I listen and love, even though I almost got married and for Pete I'm so thankful, wish I could say thank you to Malcolm, cause he was an angel

Bingo. You'd think they would be more grateful considering Gaga's next era would have tanked if it weren't for Ariana's star power too.

you claimed it was a basic jazz album in the same vein C2C/LFS when you are factually wrong cause it was an album to accompany a movie, it's pop - jazz - swing and was promoted through pop song

define acclaim for the most awarded Razzie actress Madonna?

We know this narrative has been used against soundtracks like The Gift but I fail to see where it compares?

ASIB is a MUSICAL film, which happened to be a Hollywood blockbuster movie hence why it can only have a direct impact to the soundtrack that it's attached to.

If you think ASIB as an album would have went anywhere without the movie, you lack more common sense than I thought. :gaycat3:

Exactly.

If the movie tanked, the soundtrack would have tanked too. The movie could have been successful, and the soundtrack could have tanked.

Either way, the soundtrack wouldn't have stood on its own without the movie's success.

It's so hard for you guys to acknowledge this.

I never said their destiny wasn't linked but y'all act like having a successful movie and OST is easy when there's been COUNTLESS times where pop girls failed to replicate that

44 minutes ago, Mystic Boy said:

ASIB is a film based around the music, it's not just some score that's used in the background of scenes to set a tone/mood. The film was used a vehicle for promoting the entire soundtrack, so yes the $120M budget + the huge push the film got does count for the massive promo and what helped the songs on the soundtrack do as well as they did. It does not compare at all to the minimal promo that TUN got.
