Adele: What went wrong? Part 2 and What Next?

Featured Replies

Since my last thread was deleted along with oldtrl, and given recent developments discussed in this thread:

What went wrong and what next?

For reference: 25 sold 3.3 million in its first week. 30 has sold 2.3 million units so far, 6 months after release.

Nothing went wrong and what's next? Another best selling album of the year when she comes back in 2029. :jonnycat:

nothing went wrong, the album still did somewhat well

she got a hit and sales, not 25 level of course but it would be stupid to think 30 would outdo 25 in the current climate

as for what to do next, she should tour and drop the next album in 3-4 years

Having the #1 Global IFPI album in 6 weeks for 2021

Still being top 50 globally in its 20th week as a bonus

Having a global #1 smash in 20+ weeks

Not having bundles to inflate sales

I'm guessing she will retire. At this rate her next album won't even make it onto the bb200

If this was the #1 selling album of 2021... it could drop put of the BB200 completely and still be a success lol.

The album sucks and her massive ego has completely turned the GP against her.

Why are Adele fans putting words in the OP's mouth? He never said the album wasn't successful. He asked what went wrong -- and you'd have be in denial to think that Adele and her team aren't underwhelmed with the album/era's overall reception at this point.

Because the only good and listenable song is EOM.

The rest is TRASH, i couldn't even finish the songs.

Nothing went wrong with the album.  She still had the bestselling album of 2021 and sold well especially in this climate.

I think the only thing that went wrong is her current public image and it’s obvious that “what went wrong” is that she cancelled her residency last minute for seemingly no good reason given other artists kept their residencies and tours going. But all will be fixed when she actually tours or dies the residency. She has a huge fanbase willing to spend a lot of $$ and they’re pissed off now but will certainly come back. And I’m not a stan and thought “30” was boring personally but I’m not delulu and can see the facts of her success and status.

ikr ? it's the way they read her name and immediately start throwing up receipts :rip:

- Not performing To Be Loved at the Grammy's and/or BRIT Awards

- I Drink Wine should've been the second single

- The album isn't streaming/playlist friendly, e.g. all those songs with long ass talking outros (which should've been separate tracks instead of being tacked on the end of the songs)

- The whole Vegas thing kind of ended her career

she’s too un relatable with her rich white woman problems and after half a decade people simply stopped caring altogether

This thread again

And by you know whose fanbase

Nearly every one of your faves would give their left *** for even half the success she had this past era. :rip:

She peaked commercially, but shes so huge that she'll get big numbers anyways despite declining so...

the next SLY was right there and she outright said she won't perform it again....

And tiring as ever

I don’t think much anything truly went wrong. This is just what naturally happens to most artists, particularly those with explosive rises like 21; it’s just the natural arc of a career. The ability to defy that arc’s gravity is quite rare.
