Instagiffer or Photoshop! The former will be the fastest for you and just as good as the latter. It's abandonware now but you can still find it on third party sites.

So photoshop is still the "main" way, huh?

 

 

I wonder if it's easier to make gifs/avatars now than it was in the 2010s. With talk of ChaptGPT and Gemini, you'd think that there would be a quick AI way to generate any good quality gifs you want these days, but I guess that's not a priority yet!

I use Photoshop. There's still a 500 frames limit (which can be expanded by importing the same video and combining the frames), but considering the lack of HQ avis these days, you aren't going to need more than 300 anyway.

Which version number of Photoshop?

 

 

When I used to be a regular gif maker, I used a "portable" version, because I was just using it for gifs. That 500 frames limit is my nemesis. A hassle making making longer avatars for 125x125TRL in 2010'sTRL.

I use the 2022 version (23.5), but the functionality when it comes to gif-making is practically the same as C6, maybe the Save for Web option is better in later versions? There's more you can do to adjust the file size.

That's what I used to use, if I remember correctly. CS5 (Portable) or CS6 (Portable). Can't remember which one, but it was definitely one of those two. In any case, thanks for the updated information, @Suilen and @nostalgic.
