It's inevitable to happen with many predict the full Gen 4 transition by 2022-2023

 

I believe Gen 4 definitive GGs are likely confirmed to be ITZY + Aespa and BGs equivalent can only be confirmed later with BTS just announced hiatus but my bet was Stray Kids for now.

BTS said themselves they’ve not gonna be together as a group for a while & are doing solo work. I guess they’re not on hiatus since they’re all going to still be working but  it’s definitely a break. Hybe trying not to completely tank its stocks

TBH I think the numbers are about to get more ridiculous, inflated and made up as companies try hard to mediaplay their way into filling the void BTS will leave. But like you said the numbers aren't as impressive anymore (well the fans are still impressed but they're impressed by anything) because the numbers are getting more unwieldy and ridiculous by the comeback and they're not coinciding with a genuine on the ground excitement that we saw even back when the numbers made a little bit more sense.

 

We'll have to see because SM has yet to debut their new boy group and YG their new girl group. And some newly debuted groups are just getting going. But I do think that even though companies are going to mediaplay and pretend like their groups are selling 1 billion albums per day, the on the ground reality will be that Kpop has peaked and its just the companies and fans working together to keep the fantasy going.

I think Treasure are on the same level as ATEEZ already. The competition for 4th gens BGs is tighter for them compared to ggs but i'd separate them in 2 tiers:

• 1st tier: SKZ, Enhypen and TXT
• 2nd tier: The Boyz, Treasure and ATEEZ

HYBE will be fine without BTS tbh, YG created Blackpink after Bigbang and 2NE1, HYBE can for sure create another big BG or even a GG, Le Sserafim is a good start.

seriously though, people don't like them here but bts genuinely loves music (and each other), they had crazy drive, i can't believe hybe ruined them like this

That's sad because these boy groups are making no noise outside of their fandom.

 

There needs to be a real change for boy groups to even resurrect the public's interest in them.
