i think we have never been that bored as a stanbase

music is something that really move us 

interesting thing is that we kinda did adapt ourselves to be somewhat "fed" with droplets so we don't even NEED a new album 

but we do need music at least each 6 months or we kinda collectively lose it. funny and sad

 

of course i don't speak for all of us, but for sure most of us.

Twitter really believe an announcement is coming tomorrow. Due is releasing next week and don't think she'd pick the same day. I'm assuming she wants a quiet week for biggest possible debut.

what makes it harder to believe on a surprise release is the fact that she's not using more her socials

it's normal behavior from selena's team to start using more her socials before she releases anything. 

 

but i would also LOVE a surprise release cuz i'm going to be really honest with u guys 

i have never missed new selena songs so much

Even with LYTLM she was very active in the weeks leading up to even announcing the new single. She was posting a new selfie almost every day most of last year but who knows their plans 

Apparently the single was supposed to be out in January, but Selena is pushing it back. The video was shot last year. I'm not sure if the Tiktok UMG stuff had any impact on the rollout and I don't see her surprise releasing either, she has to build some hype first, it doesn't seem like people are anticipating any new music from her.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like she is releasing and people online are kinda not giving 2 fucks about her after the year-end social media behavior. 

she could recover it FAST with an undeniable bop tho cuz she is loved by the GP 

i don't know how they will play cards, i just hope they do play cards and release it. 

 

if their promo was tiktok based its understanable they are re-thinking it

Anyways, I've been told we might not get an album rollout anytime soon, possibly not even this year  Don't know if I want to believe this but the source has been pretty reliable multiple times. I hope she has some droplets or collabs to get us through tho.

I kind of wish Selena didn't delay SG3's rollout past 2023 since she mentioned last year in an interview that she did plan on releasing the album in 2023. The end of 2023 was the perfect time to start the era. Emilia Perez finished filming at the end of June so she was pretty much free for the second half of the year. The only other thing she needed to film with Selena + Chef, but that doesn't take long to film. An album rollout only needs 5 months at most starting from the lead single to the album release, so she had the perfect amount of time to do that. 

 

Even though the album is either 90% complete by now or even 100% complete, I can understand why she'd want to delay it to 2025 since 2024 is a busy year for her. The writers strike affected OMITB so filming is probably delayed to Spring, and then Emilia Perez will have its premiere at the Cannes in May and the official release sometime before 2024 ends. Plus, she's filming the Wizards pilot right now and will likely have to film it again if Disney picks it up. On top of that, she has to separately do the promo for all of those things too. 

 

But the biggest problem with 2025 is that she might be equally as busy. OMITB is definitely getting a Season 5 so she'll have to film that, and there's a chance the Linda Ronstadt biopic will start filming, alongside other projects since we still don't have official confirmation on whether Spiral and Dollhouse got canceled, and whether she's still going to star in the Silvia Vasquez biopic project. Plus, Wizards and Selena + Chef alongside other unannounced projects will just be a lot. 

 

2023 was the perfect time to release the album, and it's unfortunate because I genuinely feel like she wanted to go all-out with this era. Now, she's not going to be able to start the rollout without any of her acting projects interfering because she waited too long. 

 

She BETTER be on Camila's album at the very least if she delayed her album, and she better go back to releasing GOOD droplets if she's not going to start her album rollout anytime soon. There's no sad songs on SG3 so might as well release Stained as a droplet if she wants to release old scraps as singles. Unlike Single Soon, Stained would actually have potential. 

She basically used her Vogue Mexico cover to tease the album and she has said a couple times that it is practically done so delaying would be a bit stupid. If Interscope wants the #1 I think the best idea is to just release it soon after the lead like Ariana did with Positions. 
But if not, then it’s ok. She has a lot on her plate and random songs this year would be fun too. 

I just hope we don't get this kind of situation again

I would love that, cause the interest will still be there and since I doubt she’ll heavily promote, getting it out of the way is the best move. 
 

March 8: Ariana Grande

March 29: Beyoncé 

April 19: Taylor Swift

 

So she has available March 1, March 15, March 22, April 5 and 12. 
 

If she wants maximum hype it should be March 1. We are not sure how Ariana is gonna do on her second week and if Selena will sell enough to surpass her so maybe March 15 is out. March 22 would be a good date, a short exact month and no competition. April 5 is the week after Bey and while Renaissance dropped to #3 on its second week, it being a country album could help her stay at the top on its 2nd week. April 12 would be a better idea too, although nothing is safe. 
 

If I had to choose I would pick either the week after (March 1 or March 22)
