Call me delusional but I still think we'll get new music in the coming months.....just not an album. I don't think her plan is to go back into obscurity for the rest of 2023.

We are not getting music. . not anytime soon, I can assure you

Frankly, this was insulting.

Production-wise - beautiful, unpopular opinion but I love the minimalistic aesthethics; her look - great, given everything; choreo - couldn't care less, especially when she's pregnant.

But the one time you use pre-recorded vocals, you'll do it in the laziest way possible - extremely underwhelming vocal delivery - very badly edited/tuned and not even well lip synced, not a single ad lib or a wow vocal moment. Given the pregnancy, she could've had a great vocal second part of the show with Diamonds, Umbrella, FFS, LOTB. Give us amazing vocals, who cares if lipped. Like Beyonce does.
She's capable of so much vocally, there's no excuse about this. Absolutely no effort on her side, sadly.

And the setlist - we get it, you've got an urban catalog that would be a good fit for the audience and you probably enjoy better, but BBHMM and RTT were more than enough. Wasting more than 3 minutes on Pose, BC, PIU and AOTL instead of the other classics is criminal.

She could have given us a greatly produced farewell to her music career, that we could go back to. She didn't.

Will probably be and is already appreciated by the GP, but as a stan I can't be more disappointed. And I had my expectations in hell.

I wrote that yesterday and have rewatched it 10 times since, but I stand by everything, unfortunately...

Not gonna say much on the show. Welcome in 2023 b!t(es. Let the haters live in 2008 with your typical "popstar" performance that the GP has left her to that year as well.

I mean who did not see this coming

Its not as bad as ATRL is making it out to be tho.  I

I can understand some people being underwhelmed by some elements of the performance but don't understand anyone calling it a bad performance....I was watching with about 15 people last night and everyone enjoyed it and were bopping throughout....despite the face that some of the setlist was made up of songs I thought weren't that recognizable to the GP

it wasn't bad per se, but surely wasn't good enough for this occassion. This was once-in-a-lifetime moment, her "big comeback to the stage in 7 years" at the biggest stage out there, and years from now people will come back to.. this?

I'm happy that she's a GP darling now (mostly) and people are just happy to see her, no matter what she does. But she really could have made it a moment that would last in time, an impactful SB performance that people would reference as one of the best in the years to come.. somehow I don't see that happening. There isn't even a particular moment or two that would have a chance to become iconic.

At this point the VMAs 2016 were better, and that's.. saying a lot :rip:

This site and Stan Twitter are literally the only places I see her being critiqued

she served much more energy, transitions were better, we got the iconic dancehall medley, the ballads were sang nicely, better choreo, etc. Idk, I prefer that :emofish:

Transitions were terrible for the pop set, vocals were not it (aside from ballad section), visuals/production was lacking, and it was broken up into 3 sets. Yeah, I can't see how anyone enjoyed the VMA performances more than this one.

VMAs 2016 were definitely better. She couldn’t even lift her leg up properly just keeping it real.

Yeah, VMAs, RIR, MIA, Global Citizen all a thousand times better vocally, while being 100% live

I guess the uncertain setlist (redoing it so many times) is partially to blame for the lack of well recorded vocals, but still...

I just wish she would at least give us droplets. Like collabs with Calvin Harris or David Guetta for example.

I fully expect droplets or even surprises like a random EP

The way she answered the music question sounded like she would be happy to put out stuff...just not an album yet

yeah, I know all of the shortcomings of the VMAs, there were many. And yet the SB is still somehow worse :sadviolin: As you can see above I'm not the only one who thinks that.

She really should have just postponed her show until further notice. Jay would help her out for sure and maybe we would actually get a much better set without her having to worry about the baby.

VMA 2016 were definitely better because that time she highlighted how much diverse her catalog and style are. I repeat it once again: the set and the outfit being the same along the whole thing is what really hurt the show imo
