I really don't think quality will make that much of a difference. 
 

Even if the song is undeniably catchy and on the level of her sterling hits, the best I think we can see her doing is a ROM sized success. 
 

I think we're overestimating how much hype she's generated, the strength of her streaming power, and her public perception.

I missed the ballad ranking yesterday but I just want to say that smile has become my favorite ballad. The lyrics are exactly what I need right now

 

 

Here's my extremely unnecessary take:

 

in todays music climate, you want release week to be HUGE, pulling all the stops, that way you signal tiktok/social media to do the heavy lifting from then on. 
 

once you achieve a show-stopping debut week and gain worldwide attention, fan generated content will follow and give the song legs.
 

I think the October 25th release date at first felt "too late" in the Halloween season for a "dark pop" song, BUT, with it being released LITERALLY ON HALLOWEEN week, it will feel INCREDIBLY timely in its first DAY 1-6.
 

 

hopefully giving disease an incredibly strong debut week that people can talk about, make Halloween challenges, and push it over the finish line. If this happens, it won't just die on November 1st, it'll keep going along as the momentum will be too strong.

 

once a song reaches a certain point of virality and extreme momentum, it really can't be stopped. (See flowers, espresso, DWAS, and now likely APT).
 

All of these songs had insane first weeks that saw gains throughout the week. If Disease can capitalize on being release in the PEAK of Halloween, it could have extreme momentum that builds on release week then continues beyond Halloween

Which is why we should never bother with OGHs, ever. LMs always take the bait, they shouldn't. Unless it's for fun lol.

 

Other artists succeeding doesn't affect Gaga at all. If LG7 is a hit, it will be a hit. Nobody cares if Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, or anyone else releases something at this point.

Let's be honest. It's really not that serious. It's actually normal for fans to react when their fave's song gets surpassed. It's ok to be a bit upset but I dont think anyone really takes it seriously. It's really just for fun just like the stanwars. I can't speak for others but I don't let these "APT surpassing Dwas" news affect me anyway in real life so I think it's ok to discuss a bit, but yes I get your point of view.  and we will all still enjoy when Disease drops.
