It's kinda refreshing that we don't have hoardes of liddos screaming at Gaga that the lead single has to sound a certain kind of way because ANY song, no matter where it might be sonically, has the potential to blow up if the stars align. Gaga has the biggest song in the world with a soft rock, mid tempo that has really classical songwriting and song structure and is over 4 minutes long, Billie has been bringing 5+ minute ballads back into mainstream success, the current number #1 is a hip-hop/country crossover, Chappell has hit it big with 80s synthpop with VOCAEHLS, Charli has hit the jackpot with auto-tuned, aggressive hyperpop. There's no discernable trend anymore that guarantees an instant smash (except like being a racist white dude singing country).
