I didn't say it was pointless, I said a sequel was not needed. Yes it's more of Joker internal turmoil (like the first installment) but the movie wasted so much time with unnecessary scenes. Worse his supposed partner was relegated to a background character as the movie went on.

 

FAD could be condensed into a 30 min short film and the story could still conveyed the message of Arthur's struggle. But they stretched it to a 2hour runtime

 

I supposed if they want to make it more commercial, they can chop down 1/3 and

Lee was a needed character to freshen up the movie but they failed as she was heavily underutilized. The subtitle for the movie is Folie A Deux FFS. The first movie is already joker-centric and I get it, FAD's central character is joker, the movie is called Joker but by hell they fumbled the bag big time on how to properly utilize Gaga's character.

Doesn't matter how big that ambition is if the execution isn't good. Like I said, the film could've been condensed to a 30-min short film and it would still convey the message it wanted to tell with proper direction.

I thought about this, too. It's like Red Dead Redemption 2 but in movie form. A switch of main character halfway through. Now that would be ballsy. The shared madness was not between Arthur and Lee, but the real joker and Lee.
