October 4, 20241 yr comment_26622496 Y'all I won't even lie, I LOVED the movie and thought it was absolutely brilliant Spoiler It's a huge swing - completely unhinged and clearly meant to be an unflinching psychological portrait of severe mental illness, just like the first Joker but even louder and farther down the rabbit hole. Completely understand why people hated this, it's not a "comic book" or even "popcorn" movie (I actually can't believe the studio greenlit it), it's far more concerned with dragging you into the very sick minds of these characters than maintaining a complex plot. It knows what it wants to be and fully commits without holding back. This goes for Gaga and Joaquin as well, they are MASTERFUL and so, so haunting in these roles.
