the Academy quite literally nominated him a year in which he publicly said the Oscars mean nothing, and I say this with zero disrespect, but it's not like Haynes is a Scorsese or Spielberg esque titan of the industry who has the ability to put a hit out on Phoenix's nom chances. Literally just last year May December, a Netflix backed film flopped with the industry cause it was too weird and artsy when we had films like Poor Things dominate.

 

the industry will be fine and this will likely be forgotten with Phoenix when Joker 2 ends up being another blockbuster. also reminder that the Academy has done on merits way worst (Polanski, Affleck, Singer)

As for the Phoenix incident, he's always been "problematic" in a way because of his eclectic and erratic nature. He's apparently a good guy and cares about the right stuff, but he's always been a bit of a "divo". Just look at some of his interviews. Now, this time is a bit different because he was supposed to play a gay character and getting "cold feet" and damaging the whole production is really an ******* move

Gaga won't be affected, she's the exact opposite of that. She's Mother Theresa of Chromatica, saint of the kindness punks.

Why would her team and Interscope delay so long, only to let LG7 fade away during the busy xmas season when it can't get the attention it deserves? It just doesn't make sense. It's the worst part of the year to release a new album 

It's worth noting that, while I understand they're different in terms of their streaming power, Taylor released Midnights at the end of October (2022) and she released her version of Red mid-November (2021). It's not the most ideal time of the year to release, no, but it's not a complete write-off.

 

I'm not saying I'm falling to believe the LG7/JFAD tie-in rumours, but it's going to be a period of time where her team are hoping she'll have a lot of positive exposure, on paper they'd argue it's the smartest time to get it out.

I get where you're coming from, and you make valid points. However, if the snippets we've heard truly represent the album, releasing such dark, magic, techno-inspired pop music around Thanksgiving seems peculiar. When most people are tuning into Mariah Carey, choosing this timing to release is quite bold.

 

And in the end I don't really care I was just speculating considering labels patterns. I would be happy to know she's releasing this year whenever she wants... Just release the damn album pls 

 

As for Taylor, she has the power to release on xmas day and still get all the attention. Gaga simply doesn't

Hope-dicting that Venice red carpet will be a bold statement akin to the GCB premiere look and she officially goes on full album mode, with an announcement shortly after.

She's obviously trying a different and new approach this album cycle. I mean, the fact that she slipped one snippet at the end of her tour film and then played two additional ones on a whim like that? Deliberately posting old studio pics? Not acknowledging LG7 until the beginning of this year and quietly working on it for at least a year? Keeping that iPad with her at all times?

 

There's a reason she's been away for so long from the public eye, and a reason why she said something along the lines about how she can work on music and film related things and has been working on projects that bridge them all.

 

Yeah the wait is frustrating rn but as always with her, expect the unexpected. Anything can happen in the fall, even a Joker and LG7 dual release in close proximity to each other.

Honestly, this is exactly the mentality I've been in for the last few months, if not the last year or two. Stans are always quick to jump on announcement patterns and releases from the past, like it must absolutely be the same this time around... although not going to lie being here on a Tuesday at 5pm BST is quite enjoyable. Last year when people were adamant that LG7 could absolutely not be released in conjunction with Joker, I never really understood it at all... why not?! Give her a chance to show exactly what she's capable of.

The VMAs are a shell of what they used to be culturally but artists like Taylor still attend here and then and even Beyoncé is rumored to perform this year.

 

They've always treated Gaga well and I can see her returning at some point but not for this year. The Tricon Award was basically her Vanguard.
