Amazon limited her sales and Sephora is THE place to have your brand on. When it first launched people were puzzled on why someone as big as her wouldn’t be selling with Sephora.

it's been doing very well and making a profit right from the gate which is great for any new business. Mostly because the makeup industry is massive and has huge profit margins. 

Overall Haus LAbs fed media that it made 100 million euros (if I remember correctly). I think these figures are inflated for PR reasons but even if it were to make like 50 million it would be a HUGE success for a small business. Now with sephora we can expect it to really HIT those figures and maybe even more.

This was a 100% business move and is extremely SMART.

 

Sephora has brand recognition, a great reputation and you can sort of expect quality products when you shop there. Amazon is more like the wild west. Sort of like Ebay. 

 

Plus Sephora provides free promo. Anytime anyone walks past it in the malls or any of the millions of ppl that have email subscriptions will get tons of notifications that new Gaga products dropped on a regular basis. 

 

It's why many of us were confused why she chose Amazon initially. My theory is Sephora wanted ot take too large a percentage of the revenue. So Gaga decided to prove her brand and model via Amazon so that she can then approach Sephora with a proven business model which will then encourage them to give her a very favorable offer with them taking lower profit percentages. 

Ok, we'll see how it works out in a year or so.  It was doing well on Amazon.

Right, and no one is denying that. But Sephora has, like, 600 stores that it will be in come the fall. Amazon was convenient, but makeup lovers do not go to Amazon for quality makeup, they go to places like Sephora. If she can prove herself in Sephora, the brand will grow rapidly. Sephora also has quick shipping, or even same day shipping via DoorDash if you’re near a store. They will benefit more from this than Amazon.

IIRC they were valued at around $150m with around $50m in revenue. Going into Sephora will double their valuation easily.
