I’m also genuinely confused as to what they were expecting? Besides the intro, there’s honestly zero surprises here. It sounds exactly like what you would expect an end credit song for this type of film to sound like.

This song is so emblematic of everything that makes her as an artist that it’s shocking people who make being a lady Gaga fan part of their identity would react so poorly. If it wasn’t so on brand and predictable for her that would be another story.
