and the way Gaga wanted to be evil queen in that one  Gal stole, the way she stole Cleopatra. 

Shallow becoming diamond eligible at the end of this year/start of the next only reinforces how stupid radio was to not give this song a way bigger radio peak. Such an insane cultural moment that they just decided to mildly acknowledge.

 

At the end of the day, it had no impact on the song commercially or culturally, but it did impact its h100 run, that should've been as big as the song.

HOG was a success and the movie itself was perfectly fine and Ridley is a workhorse of a director — that opening tracking shot of Gaga strutting out from her car; the scenes of her in the club serving Elizabeth Taylor; the now iconic scenes of her threatening the mistress in the alps with the teaspoon; that final shot. He framed her so well.
