I heard it the other day on my speaker and I almost snapped an elbow reaching for my phone to SKIP. Never thought I’d say that because I enjoyed it so much when it first came out but now I guess…. DonnieDarko Posted February 12, 2023 Share Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) Rain On Me is a great song that used a 1979 disco/funk sample in discreet yet effective way, it has a simple structure, like many songs it was inspired by (from 70s,80s and 90s dance/house music)but at the same time it has a classic Gaga feel to it as well which makes it timeless. I really agree, and so far it's been aging quite well. It's an easy-to-listen-to, pure pop song with no pretense or overwrought message. It makes sense coming from Gaga. It's too bubblegum'd to function as a proper 90's house throwback so it ends up sounding like a Kidz Bop original song to me. Ironic that this was here attempt at attracting a younger "streaming" audience but that generation are too busy gravitating towards her edgier pop songs like Bloody Mary, Judas, Applause etc. Replay was done so dirty.
