It could be because the venue is unavailable for other dates even if it would make more sense logistically.

I thought the Japan tweet was fake I had to triple check

Literally everything that report said was true. Back in March 2020 when the original 6 dates were released, a report said that the tour would have 15 dates and would include Tokyo/Singapore dates. Obviously there's probably been more US dates than originally planned, but it's impressive how accurate it ended up being.

Yeah its kinda messy to go to Japan then fly back to America within the same week Maybe it has to do with the scheduling
