This. I will be extremely happy for Gaga if she won again, but I'm not going to lose my mind if she doesn't. No point in all that. And as you said, it could be disadvantageous in the long-run as it could box her up or make it harder to win the award she's always been going for. Quantity isn't everything.

I get that, but the Academy already knows she's a musician. Losing music categories won't make her a more respected actress to them (if anything, that might prove they don't like her enough). The more noms and wins (in any category), the more chances she gets, not the other way around.

Honestly, not to sound dramatic or pessimistic, but we need to not take for granted that she's gonna win BA in her career.

 

Bette Midler, that nobody mention in the Barbra-Cher comparison, got nominated twice in her career, at her debut on screen like Gaga the first time and then 12 years later, both times she even won the Globe, but she ends up losing both, she still managed to have a very successful acting career, she won Emmy, Tony (recently) and Grammy, but never BA.

It's not easy, at times it's a matter of lucky also, too many factors playing in that.

I watched "Misery" tonight with Kathy Bates, and it struck me how she and maybe Charlize Theron are the only people to win BA in the last like 30yrs for really dark, villainous roles. I wonder if Gaga has thought about that, now going into her 2nd really dark role in a row.

I'm guessing Harley will be fairly sympathetic in J:FAD. Not an outright villain, at least not right away. It'll basically be Dr. Harleen Quinzel.

I always wonder why Gaga embodies dark, evil characters so well. Even in her music videos she's been killing people left and right. Love it but kinda weird from a kindness queen.

 

Anyway I haven't seen Misery in forever, where did you see it I can't find it anywhere without subscription

I'm more curious for the soundtrack than the movie itself
