There's also some disingenuous comparisons that some of y'all are throwing around without much context behind in order to push a certain narrative. Let's set some things straight here. 

 

Her big ballads for the most part are doing just fine in recurrents and don't really need significant boosts. Shallow 800k, ARUTW 500k, MR 250k (6 years later, despite not one day spent on TTH) and now HMH that so far seems to have stabilized in the 500k region (with still room for it to grow and re-peak pending wrapping up of the awards season). 

 

It's her pop catalog (outside of JD/PF/BR) that needed those boosts more considering their low recurrents. But that's fine, and understandable, since the bulk of it was released pre-streaming. Now, C-word, a 2020, streaming age, post-ASIB hype, much-anticipated-return-to-pop album, with massive Spotify/AM campaigns, continues to tank now doing under 900k ( ) and ROM (ft. Ariana Grande) slipping under 400k just after 2 years  And let's not talk about Estupido Bomba, the LEAD single, doing less than 100k already

 

 

Y'all keep shading her most recent AC efforts when it's actually doing better compared to her most recent pop output. Peaks are cute but longevity on streaming with newer output that prolongs your streaming shelf life >>>

 

 

But n e ways, the point is, she has smashes that are pop songs, smashes that are ballads. Same goes for duds. But what we do have, as verifiable data points, is her most recent AC album (ASIB) outstreaming (actually DOUBLING ) her most recent pop album (C-word). And before anyone quotes me, this ain't me taking sides or what type of music she should be pursuing moving forward, but just putting things as fairly and objectively as possible. Take it as you will.

That’s really what it is. Shallow was her most quintessential “Gaga” single since the BTW era tbh - earth-shattering chorus, unusual structure, different from everything else popular at the time, and sharp, clever songwriting. The genre/production are ancillary factors when it comes to her smashes

Although I would say it's definitely more difficult creating a ballad that clicks with the GP in general especially nowadays in the TikTok era.
