I’m not bitter at a lack of promotion. I have always been one of the fans defending the lack of promo during covid. Chromatica has amazing highs, but like all Gaga albums except TFM and BTW it is let down by a couple subpar songs. A-Yo on Joanne, Jewels N Drugs on ARTPOP, Free Woman on Chromatica. She could easily make these insane albums but there has to be a bit more editing to make these next level bodies of work.

BTW doesn’t have subpar songs? All the bonus tracks are pure overproduced noise, Americano is a mess, the unicorn song is .. something. Lol.

I wasn't specifically talking about you, tbh, but it sounds like you're then colored by nostalgia, because both TFM and BTW have a stinker or two. Very few albums are 100% from start to finish, so that's just a weird expectation no matter what. Unless Gaga starts releasing smaller EPs, there are bound to be a couple of songs that don't click.

 

IMHO, Chromatica has less duds than both TFM and BTW. When I listen to Chromatica, I can pick up on the storytelling from start to finish. I can't do that with TFM and not so much with BTW considering it's a cacophony of sound.

Teeth, SHICD, and although I love the song, Monster would be considered filler on any other Gaga album. What pulls TFM down is Gaga's bogus and quite obviously made up narrative about how each song represents a "fear" of hers. That was something she made up afterwards.

 

As for BTW, Americano, Electric Chapel, The Queen, Black Jesus, and Highway Unicorn are all very easily skipped without taking away from the album.
