Nahh Take My Breath Away is not a hard song to top. Gaga's vocals alone will easily demolish Terri Nunn's vocals. I don't hate Take My Breath Away but I do think its so overrated for such a monotonous song that goes nowhere. Gaga's song may not be as successful as Take My Breath Away but I think quality wise she has the potential to create a much better song than it.

Girl... Let's not be delusional. TMBA is an iconic anthem and has been for decades. It's euphoric. I don't doubt Gaga her talent and ability, but I think even bringing that song up is going to lead to disappointment. Gaga's song will be its own thing, it'll be different!

She's done one musical role, and people loved it.  Good actors are considered good because they play to their strengths. The lead role in Cabaret would allow her to play an actual character as opposed to herself (like ASIB) as well as showcase her musical abilities since the music in the movie would be very different from anything else she's done. It would be an iconic role for her.

 

Cabaret AND Joker 2 would showcase her talent in so many ways. Joker 2 I'm not fully sold on, though. As huge as the first movie was, I don't see Joker 2 getting nearly as much hype, praise, or success.

I don't mind her doing Cabaret for the looks alone but I'm just so exhausted and tired of these remakes.

It’s going to be weird when all of Gaga’s academy awards come from sequels and remakes of iconic movies. A Star is Born, Top Gun, Cabaret, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane

ToThe thing is, the comparisons to TMBA are inevitable. The song can be in a completely different sonic realm but it will still be compared to its predecessor by everyone and their mamas. So in terms of making an iconic and timeless CLASSIQUÉ, it's definitely a tall order. But all these years the one thing that I've learned is to never underestimate her so I'm ready for whatever the outcome is  

 

The three things that I really want are a) big, soaring vocals, b) irresistible and catchy af melody and c) a key change. Make the children EAT IT LeGend!

I know the bar is as high as it gets after Shallow/ASIB but we have to keep in mind those were the exceptions, we have had plenty of examples of soundtrack songs bombing to hell since then
