I firmly believe she is performing and will hold onto it until I see the ending credits of the show

Bey probably knows shes not winning AOTY, thus not performing, and just attending for her awards and leaving right after

Cute y’all still have hope, we normally find out somehow before now if she is, like rehearsals.

When she performed at the Oscars we knew she would be opening the ceremony the day show took place. I’m afraid everyone is assuming she’s performing and keeping it secret, so they’re writing articles as they know something while hoping she would perform so they would end up like they have inside info

I too don't think she's performing tbh. I peruse her team member's activity a fair bit and not a peep out of Fatima Robinson (and her assisting crew)...who btw seem to be Bey's new go-to on the creative/choreo front (Oscars, Dubai etc).

If she's performing at all, it will be pre-recorded like the Oscars IMO.

To offset any disappointment, though, I'm bracing for an appearance, x number of wins, and hopefully some kind of commercial or tease for the tour and/or the visuals. Even without a performance, that would make for a great night.

It was reported like 5 days before that she would be performing and then rumours started about where the performance was taking place. There is zero rumours about tonight.

In slightly entertaining the idea of a "surprise performance", this year's performer lineup is very very...bare. Not just in terms of star-power, but actual slots.

It's a 3+ hour broadcast and the announced batch is the smallest I can remember.

IIRC, they announced their first wave like last week (Lizzo, Bad Bunny etc), followed through with Harry (solo announcement), then Jay/Khaled just a day or so ago and we know there's a Hip-Hop 50th anniversary tribute segment. Even with these new additions, it's still rather bare.

There's the confirmed "surprise" female and male performers, as well as performances a few know about but haven't been announced (like Quavo tributing Takeoff).

So, it's either:

* The show's lineup is basically as dire as it looks and we'll get long-ish performances from them all to fill up the time.

OR

* They are going heavy on the surprise element, which may or may not include Bey.

They've said the surprise female is someone that is not a nominee though.

Gonna sound dramatic AF, but I really think the long-term interest in the Grammys (as this premium, elevated show) hinges a lot on what happens tonight. From how they handle their "Bey / AOTY" issue to whether the big-big acts really don't bother to show/perform. Even historical establishments like the Grammys aren't above public/industry rebellion.

Any more dents to their armor and in time it will be hard to differentiate the Grammys from shows like the AMAs, VMAs etc which it's always positioned itself above. They can't build a "must-see"show around artists who are popular but not ratings magnets as performers (like Harry, Taylor, Bad Bunny, Lizzo) nor can they sustain their "premium" if the people they constantly reward are the same ol' same ol' doing the Pop promo rounds. They literally need the mega names like the Bey especially when super popular names like the Weeknd's Drake's and co have abandoned them already. There's a LITERAL and very OBVIOUS business case for them to do the right thing when it comes to Bey.

They've been cutting their nose to smite their face for years and soon there won't be much of a salvageable face left.

TBH, I have never believed it to be a meritocracy (which is why the "who voted for who" articles don't phase me in the slightest). We know there are secret panels within the academy with higher influence to sway the vote. Be it for political reasons, be it for the sake of the broadcast, who is/isn't attending etc. So, I'll just say that...the assignment is what it is and I hope they simply...do the right thing tonight.

At first I thought she would perform but now the release of the cuff it remix and these couple of IG pictures feel like a message of “here is the few crumbs you guys will get, just checking in to let y’all know I’m alive, love you deep”

We’ll get a cute photo of her grammy look with Jay and she’ll be back on her yacht

There's also reports that the surprise performer is Adele. Who is very nominated. :skull: No one knows anything. Let's just chill. If she doesn't perform, then we can drag her.

Interesting!

Showbiz411 seems adamant that Adele is performing unannounced, which - if true - kind of opens the door for Bey to do the same.

TBH, we're on the same page of thought (her not performing). I'm just equally of the mindset that it's not...impossible. Definitely when factoring the prospect of it being pre-recorded.

Everything will be back to normal again tomorrow, meaning:

She still hasn't given us an official performance from this era

Sadly I don't think it does, how many times have black artists been snubbed in favour of white people? It's the same at the Oscars

It only matters in the eyes of those who care and most people don't really care that's why people keep attending the Grammys and submitting.

It’s 3 am and I (once again) went on a rabbit hole of watching audience footage of the FWT and wow, just from the video the feeling of hearing the loud bass of the speakers, the technical production being so grand, the excellent choreo and vocals, I want to see her so badly:'( I get literal chills watching her perform she just has this effortless aura of being mother. God I hate her but I love her:'(

Not even to brown-nose Bey, but...why would we drag her?

I'm not even anti-Grammys in the way others here are, but factually they have shaded her so many times to the point now that the onus is on them to do right by her.

Bey even attending is a blessing for them given their diminishing returns ratings-wise and with the caliber of stars even showing up these days.

I'd LOVE a performance (make no mistake), but if she doesn't I'd get it. I think she'd be playing it wise by being visible (and hopefully awarded) but not over-stretching herself to the benefit of a platform that doesn't overstretch itself to her.
