Honestly, the sphere performance would perfectly align with Beys career trajectory. It would feel like the natural progression from Beychella with heavy focus on cinematography and technology. To do that with the AOTY would be Chefs Kiss.

Merch booths outside the venue were available for some shows, not all, sort of inconsistent. And she did popup stores in some cities, too.

 

I ended up getting my merch on the way out, it was quick and easy. But if you're worried they'll run out of your size/item, then go before.

She isn't one of these conspiracy theorists. Never has been. She doesn't fall for all the crazy stuff and has been a fan of Beyoncé for a long time. However, this specific narrative seems to be breaking through to regular people as well as the crazies. That. Is. Scary.

I dont know why you act shocked. We live in a world that is literally ruled by algorithms. You see something online, you show curiosity, and algorithms immediately register that and creat an information bubble around you specifically designed to fit your interest. Your friend is a victim of that and is probably now only fed videos and conspiracy videos on Bey that feed into her suspicion.

Granted, you defend her because she's your friend, but she doesnt seem too intelligent if shes not able to see past that. Media literacy is at an all-time low unfortunately, and thats what she clearly lacks.

I get what you mean but extending discussions with people who believe things with no factual basis is kind of a waste of oxygen and futile cuz if someone is dumb enough to believe things like "Beyoncé is a human trafficker" with absolutely no basis, they are unlikely to shift or evolve in their position.

Yes, you can care about many things at once. Caring about something with zero evidence, to the point where you're getting angry at your friends for wanting to go to a concert, though, is CRAZY

 

And I think it's time we starting having the conversation that the "crazies" have always been normal ppl. Our friends. Our families. Our managers. Our coworkers. Our neighbors.
 

That's why you distance yourself from them. If someone chooses to let a lie/false rumor affect your friendship in any way, they are not the friend you think they are…

I completely understand you and I disagree with the people that previously replied. This also happened to me with a friend who is educated and a very good journalist. They are among the people with the highest media literacy. I believe that happened because they see/hear that about Beyoncé so many times that it becomes the truth. Also, we are in a period when people distrust traditional institutions and elites. Beyoncé represents both of those things. Just like political elite has been exposed for horrible stuff they did, the same happened to many who belong to music/movie elites. There's corruption in those industries as well. Now people who aren't privileged and have less than they should feel like those elites have taken things from them, especially since there's a lot of them who actually are corrupt. Since there's been talk about Beyoncé being connected to Diddy everywhere and no opposing narrative, people start to believe things that don't have any proof. If you hear it enough times, it becomes the truth. And we don't tend to question everything always. I also disagree that you should stop being friends with them. Some billionaire celebrity isn't worth losing your friends. You should talk that through like grown adults, especially since you claim that your friend is smart. Also, if we don't talk to people who fall for conspiracy theories, they will probably never get the other side to the story and continue believing the only side they have heard. Letting go of all people who disagree with you on something just isolates you and robs you both of the opportunity to learn, grow, change your opinions and hopefully strengthen your friendship. If they are indeed lost to the conspiracy theories and there's no way to talk to them, then it's understandable to stop being friends.

A journalist always checks the source before choosing to take something as fact. It's like…the first rule of journalism. Also the news media are part of the "traditional institutions" you speak of that are distrusted by the public. How does that work if she herself is a member of the press?
