I'm not baffled that Cowboy Carter is her worst performing album in her career. Truthfully, nobody wanted a country album by her. I'm baffled by the degree of its chart flopping though. Less than 30 weeks is insanity and honestly kinda heartbreaking?

I don't know what people expect, it had one single WW, no performances, no videos. She killed her own era, it would be worse if she was trying and flopped.

  • It was the best concert of my life, bar none. Idc!    It was extraordinary, it was ineffable.  I knew I loved it based on the videos but I... Hey I don't know.    Best moment

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

In all fairness, I've always thought its weak performance was to be expected. Her core (urban) audience doesn't find it interesting, pop is barely keeping it alive, and the target market for this era is staunchly pushing back on it (for various reasons, mostly out of spite). The one leg it has had to stand on is being the second act of a highly promoted 'trilogy', but she's done nothing to assist it individually because she wants her fans to hard-carry.

At this point, "oldhive" has all but concluded that if she doesn't care to keep the album rollout interesting with at least some effort, they won't show much effort either.

i still laugh at her coming up with this grand trilogy nonsense when she didn't bother explaining why it's even a trilogy once:rip:

take out the horse on the cover and there's no link between the two and it's just 2 albums being released 2 years apart, literally standard practice :rip:

like where's the link other than stan theories ? borderline made up dead relatives ? a ton of songs with shoehorned product placements so she can make a quick buck ? both albums not getting any attention or love from her ? both being accompanied by increasingly boring eras ? idk i just have to ask again what was the damn point of this trilogy other than getting rid of the music she made during lockdown (and making the most amount of money coupled with the least amount of effort) ?  :rip:

The way Diva is outperforming every song on Conman Carter.

:toofunny2:

We dont need dissertations for CCs performance - Ms Bey did 0 to increase interest post release and she reaped what she sewed.  The album had way more potential in it than what it end up doing (like any Bey project post Matthew).

Great artist, poor manager/CEO.

Like it's so catchy, why hasn't it clicked with the gp? The whole album is phenomenal and yet we're at a commercial low point, it's baffling to say the least.

Tyrant is a bit too long :michael:

Yeah, Tyrant goes nowhere for me.

SHB is the real aural experience.

Shut up fagets.

2H2H really does nothing for me. Now it's even worse because I just think of her trying to sell me whiskey. :rip:

Tyrant (6 Inch's uglier sister), 2 Solange Hands 2 Jay Z, Sweet Honey Fuccin are the supposed highlights from the album the basé keeps pitching. But these don't even reach top 20 songs in her discography whereas Rennie songs... do. :emofish: I'm also not seeing enough American Requiem stanning.

Tyrant is for the gurlies who aggressively dance off-beat in the club with their manzzz :sistrens:

They never were.

Bodyguard, Daughter and Ya Ya are the true pillars of the record.

A pity they were not given the chance to get the shine they deserved, at least to a minimal degree a la Cuff It.

Cowboy Carter is a good album but it does pale in comparison to Renaissance.

I haven't listened to it nearly as much.

2H2H is exquisite, perhaps my fav CC track.

Tyrant, on the other hand, might not be a masterpiece, but I'd argue that it's a nice blend of Country/Hip-hop. It's a great experiment imo.

SHB... ugh. I just can't get into it.
