She got the 3 weeks of attention that she wanted from me. Now she gets 0. Tired of supporting this hag

:suburban:

I mean this was expected given how she handled the release. Or how she didn't lol.

As great as the music is, a country release from a woman in her 40s who has predominantly released RnB/urban music throughout her career needed a bigger sell/push than just put it out there and disappear afterwards. (oh wait, they put posters up and had a cowboy carter truck out and about :clown:)

It is what it is.

Very fair take.

I find myself torn between the factually "unfair" angle of her constantly being passed over for certain accolades (e.g. at the Grammys, which pretends to be a meritocracy while showcasing very racially problematic behavior) and your very justified articulation of how she doesn't play the game and thus doesn't win what she could and should.

She's been in the game long enough to know that music is but a fraction of the music industry and she knows way more than we ever could about what's needed to make these award wins happen. At the same time, when they keep making her "most nominated" and even "most awarded" only to keep snubbing her for the major honor/s, it's easy to see the frustration.

It's all rather sticky because I'd bet that a big part of why she doesn't "campaign" her albums in the traditional sense anymore is the pivot she's taken over the last decade or so of being this renegade, artsy, socially reflective and almost political artist.

In slight fairness to her, the optics of her "campaigning" a Lemonade (with its political, racial lean), Rennie (with its LGBTQ lean), or even CC (with its genre shift that she's angling to position as authentic rather than dress up) wouldn't be...good.

Still, that doesn't inform whether or not she performs, drops visuals, or finds savvy ways of "campaigning" on her own terms. So there's a definite truth IMO of her shooting herself in her own foot.

Look, you have to understand that Grammy voters are not gonna give all the highest accolades to someone like Beyonce. Pundits, media and her massive PR might be pushing Beyonce as the frontrunner but at the end of the day it's the musicians who vote and they won't give AOTY to someone who isn't really "one of them".

Beyonce and her aproach to making an album is a major turn off. Fot example, a vote for Billie and Taylor is a vote for all the young female musicians who are passionate about making music and are constantly writing new songs. Voting for Beyonce is just not as exciting cuz you're basically giving her the ultimate honor for something that would never exist without a massive army of seasoned musicians making the majority of the album. For example Fearless is a what it is cuz of Taylor and her talent and skills. You can't say that for Beyonce and her music.

Yeah, Beyonce is a massive superstar and a celebrity to celebrities but the musicians aka voters just don't buy the hype and the whole "artistic genius" PR and media narrative that is being pushed each time she realeses a new album.

Grammy voters still have their principles. That shows that they value the artist's integrity and passion about the craft. They can't be influenced by the outside agendas. And this is how it should be, Grammy voters are the actual musicians with years of experiences and know way more about the industry and about the artists that we do so I find it really funny when people throw tantrums cuz someone like Beyonce didn't win AOTY. So many black artists won in The GF, Stevie Wonder won 3 AOTYs in 4 or 5 years. It's obvious that they just don't feel like Beyonce is worthy of such an honor. she was pushed as the frontrunner three times already and yet they never went along with the media narrative and buzz. I think that they just don't think shes worthy to be honored to such an extent

I was scared of the response, I  think that Beyonce is the greatest living entertainer and performer and she has a killer vocals. But she's really not that creative genius or whatever her fans think she is. It's so weird cuz she is so good but not at making music but rather performing it. But Grammys are all about the craft and the talent pf creating and writing songs and albums and we all know Beyonce hires like an insane amount of songwriters and then just overlooks the whole process

So Beyonce just has to do an album full of 4 note basic melodies to win? That's talent, craft, skill, integrity and passion?

Some tell her to release an album of the lullabies she sings her kids, maybe that's how she'll win AOTY.

Shut your punk ass up! Are you in the studio with Beyoncé? No. Everyone she has worked with has stated what she does and creative she is as a writing & a producer

This is absolute garbage, and exactly what is wrong with music now :rip:

Why do you think that they never gave her AOTY. We have been through this 3 times already (2015, 2017 and 2022). Beyonce is always a supposed frontrunner and predicted to win and gets is push by the pundits and media as the clear frontrunner and an obvious pick.

Don't you think that it's kinda telling how they always find an alternative and dont buy the massive hype around her every time she releases a new album. Her PR is flawless but it's kinda overdone cuz she really wants us to believe she's this unreachable creative visionary when it couldn't be further from the truth. Voters are not stupid, they know the reality about her "artistry" and how overhyped she is by the media. It's obvious at this point that the musicians and others working in the industry don't feel the same way as Twitter and pundits.

There has been many instances where we've seen subtle shade and ridicule about her having 20+ songwriters on a song, Diane Warren, who is a songwriting legend and wrote "I Was Here" was literally ridiculing her on Twitter for having 24 songwriters on one song. Do you really believe any songwriter with a little bit of self-respect would vote for Beyonce in AOTY 😂.

People've been saying for years that she's not really seen in a positive light especially among songwriters and musicians and artists who are actually writing their material. I don't think country voters will be voting for Cowboy Carter, you just need to realize the truth and stop whining about her not winning and playing the race card cuz it's kinda cringe at this point, you're not gonna change the way some voters see her.

Twitter and pundits are just internet bubbles that can be heavily manipulated and regulated and everybody knows Beyonce is the queen of PR and wants to present herself as some kind of a visionary that is obviously not really the truth. That's why she will be again deemed a frontrunner before  the ceremony and she will  probably lose against someone that has earned more respect among the voters. She is really popular with the celebs but musician see through the facade and the PR which is honestly just too much for somene who we all know is mostly just recording the demos or combining songs and things like that. She is very limited as a songwriter. Come on now, 24 songwriter on 1 song is a disgrace and an album like that should never win AOTY. That would be such a slap on the face to artists who are the creative forces behind their albums

The way creativity and artistry have been reduced to basic four note melodies and self written high school diary lyrics lately just because a certain someone has raised their profile over the last few years is just

Im all for Beyonce winning in performance categories or for music videos but Album of the year is too much especially when you realize that she doesnt even sing about herself (Becky with good hair, Ladies lets get in formation) and almost every single iconic line were written by a male songwriter. 💀 People were freaking out about the Becky line and took it as her spilling about what happened when she had nothing to do witb it 💀. I mean its really easy to understand why she's 0/5 in AOTY.

If you believe that this is just garbage  and that I made thie up for fum then go on and predict her to win. If you want to know more about this go on and look it up but ur not gonna do that, are you? its easier to act like a ***** and blame the winners and the voters and constantly playing the race card then to try and find what is the reason behind their decision to not give her AOTY.

Grammys and academy is always fighting for the creators and musicians who might not make a lot of money and are being treated unfairly so its understandable they will want to honor and celebrate the ones that have the creative spark in them and feel authentic in thw way they are writing…its nice to see people like Taylor, Billie or Olivia suceeding cuz they share that passion and have a deeper understanding of the craft and want to learn improve and grow with their music.

Oh shut the **** up already and stop spamming this thread ffs :rip: Beyonce's persona and output are polarising due to the nature of her art, the grammy general fields are literally won on how much cross genre voters appeal you have. That's all there is to it.

As if country/rock voters were gonna pick a queer ballroom record for AOTY, even if Beyonce solo wrote and produced the entire thing by ehrself

Get the **** outta here

Beyonce was actually my first fav, but sometimes us fans are her own worst enemy. For example, why do we want her to do visual, interviews and hustle like she's a newcomer?

This entirely goes against the brand she has been projecting - an  untouchable goddess. If she does do the whole everything and the lot and flops, it's going to a horrible look for her branding. Also, someone of her caliber doing hustling like tyla make it look so cheap.

As for aoty, clearly the grammys do not like it when song writing credits are ambiguous, and we all know for real that Beyonce, the business woman takes over and muddles the ground between integrity and success.

We really need to give the sis constructive criticism instead of the delusion she doesn't do promo, which clearly her pr team does with social media engagements.

Mods please thread ban these two losers @Pinkbutterflies Pop Fan

Beyonce on the other hand stands for everything that is just not what music and the process should be about. She runs the whole thing like a buisness and just oversees the whole thing. The real heros behind her albums are the countless songwriters that will sadly never get the recognition they should get instead of Beyonce. It is a comment knowledge that Beyonce is more of a corporation, there are so many people contributing and writing for her hoping she might chose what they came up with. That is messed up in my opinipn. Shes basically not even expressing her life and her feelings, she is just emoting feeling and singing what her songwriters came up with
