I think she made last minute edits on the digital version (probably because of her vision evolved from the perception Renaissance got) and unfortunately the physicals were already pressed and ready to go and she didn't want to lose money on them. Tbh as annoying as it is that I don't own the definitive version I'm glad she didn't waste the physicals, that would have been ridiculous.

I don't think I've ever heard a song as good as YA YA

How does it keep getting better?

With all that being said, I hope these issues are all corrected with the standard version.

Wait has anyone clocked how embarrassing (and weird) it is that COWBOY CARTER was allegedly recorded first, however, its limited edition CD box seemed half-a**ed and the CD literally has a different album title on it and doesn't contain any content other than a 8x8 poster that's actually all apart of the album cover.

Whereas, the RENAISSANCE limited edition CD box came with the inside of the box containing art inside and a fully completed album booklet and didn't feel as cheap as the act ii  BEYINCÉ one? I'm just still flabbergasted by the lack of effort put into it :biblionny:

they are labelled as "limited edition" though, which is exactly what they are by literally having a limited tracklist but also by it now being very unlikely that any future pressings will be that tracklist. So, I don't find it embarrassing per se. It's not as if they labelled it a "deluxe" edition and then gave us less than the standard.

The only thing is that it sort of revealed some uncertainty behind-the-scenes, but given that she took it out of the archive to release it, I'm not mad that she had the confidence to think critically about what else the album could use rather than just sticking to what was already pressed in order to save face.

The fact that it has the "original" cover and the "original" tracklist is also kind of special in and of itself, like an artefact of her creative history. I think it can be deemed disappointing for fans who want it all or "more" but it's not exactly embarrassing.

when faced with options like: toss out thousands of physical copies, not have the added new music on the streaming release, or use the vinyls and add new music to streaming, I'd surely pick having the extra music, especially since it's some of the best songs on the record.

you frequently make some insightful points, but let's not pretend that this overly literal interpretation is what comes to mind when one sees the phrase "limited edition.”

I've not pretended that at all.

My full sentence (which you've cropped) was: "they are labelled as 'limited edition' though, which is exactly what they are by literally having a limited tracklist but also by it now being very unlikely that any future pressings will be that tracklist."

a limited edition album is generally interpreted to mean a version of the album that will exist in limited quantities only, a version that is NOT the standard version that will be on sale from there on out, whether that is because of the cover art, the colour of the vinyl, or the specific content of the album itself, or some other reason.

whether you disagree or not with half of a sentence (which I only really added for fun) doesn't stop it from being a limited edition version vinyl, exactly what it was advertised to be and thus not embarrassing. TBH had she labelled it "Limited Edition Original Version of Cowboy Carter" they probably would have sold more because now you're letting people know that these are collector's items, the first pressings. It's like owning the first edition of a famous novel.

Just because it isn't technically a lie doesn't mean that people can't be upset about what they're getting.

Honestly, a good chunk of the drama could've been avoided had they dropped the tracklist before preorders (or at least # of songs) and the physicals been advertised with the number of tracks. This way it wouldn't feel like people are finding out that they're getting fewer songs after the fact. Sorry, but it does come off as messy and the criticism is not unwarranted considering people's money was involved.

We assumed that "limited edition" meant that only the cover would be unique from the standard edition. As a longtime Bey fan, it was silly of me to assume anything. Knowing what I know now, I would still purchase everything again. But having more clarity on the limited tracklist would still be nice. It is what it is at this point.

Her shop still hasn't responded to my complaint about being lied and deceived to by the whole physicals fiasco:deadbanana4: it's been a couple days. I find that super disappointing. I don't know how closely she monitors the people in charge of the shop but there needs to be an overhaul asap because that's extremely unprofessional.

Im seriously contemplating a chargeback through my bank and I hate that I'm even considering that nnn.

Sony Music is hosting an official CC listening party in Brazil on April 10.

Maybe we can expect some kind of announcement around that time? We are been teased a lot recently so something is coming for sure.

The sounds at the end of some of the Cowboy Crazy songs are part of the visuals. It's like she's being transported from one universe to another

Bey's shop pretty much ignores these things. They shipped my CE NOIR perfume to another state so I emailed to ask for a refund. They didn't respond but the perfume appeared on my doorstep 2 days later.

Unfortunately I'm guessing they will ignore the vinyl/CD complaints as well, since the website said "all sales are final."

I agree it is messy but it's not embarrassing.

We all very much know the reason is because she had the album ready and planned to go BEFORE Renaissance and has since added new songs, the perfectionist that she is. Again, I agree that her being such a perfectionist and having usually tight control of her image/work does make this discrepancy feel all the more "messy" but there's not much embarrassment to be had on her end.

What do y'all think Beyonce's intention was with releasing at TEXAS HOLD 'EM remix? Do y'all think she was trying to push for number one single again? If so, why didn't she put it out earlier in the week?

I think that it was a few possible things at once:

  1. Boost TEXAS HOLD 'EM's sales. (I haven't been tracking it because I don't care, so duno if there's even a chance of it going #1 but to have it get even higher than without would only be a bonus).
  2. And by extension, because it is released so late in the tracking week and thus kind of straddles two, it would also help to steady TEXAS HOLD 'EM on the album's second week on the charts, so that it doesn't just get an album-release boost but one that continues for another week.
  3. Boost discourse and excitement around the album going into its second week. It's almost like promo for the album right at the start of a new tracking week
  4. Releasing it so late also doesn't make her seem desperate for these boosts, but just matter of fact. It allows people to consume the album without distractions before getting a lil treat before the week is done.
  5. This is less likely: but I've seen a lot of "I wish she'd do R&B again" stuff on Twitter, and perhaps like the BMS remix, her releasing it at that moment is a bit of a "shut up" moment considering she's more in her R&B/hip-hop bag with her vocals on the remix. I doubt this though, but it's a funny thought.

I just wish they released just that part as "Pony Up". I don't wanna hear 1:30 seconds of Texas Hold 'Em before it.

well in my case it was the Limited Edition Alternate Cover RENAISSANCE vinyl so I assume they just had no more left. But it sucked because I bought it within minutes of it being on sale. I really wanted it.

yes or at least altered the instrumental slightly (like BMS) for that part in order to have enough of the song to make it eligibly combined with the original for Billboard, but different enough that we're not just waiting for the good part.

It's still an amazing remix and I love the bait-and-switch factor too.
