she’s the (i guess former?) lead singer of Alabama Shakes which started as a blues rock band with their debut (Boys and Girls) but got more eclectic with their follow up/final album (AOTY-nominated Sound & Color). her solo work is somewhat of a continuation of that evolution and still rooted in a bluesy, rocky vibe without feeling constrained by it.

at least we know something Bey related is happening today. At worst we get a few Bey references and My house in the advert. At best we get some sort of combination of the rumours circulating, probably the cube. Ideally whatever it is, ties into ushering in the next act.

 

my ideal would be residency announcement and act 2 pre-orders on her website, but I’m okay being delusional because I don’t let myself get disheartened when these things don’t materialise.
