Maybe they were always supposed to come after the acts. :michael: Like a three part series on Netflix (kind of like what they did with the Squid Game reality show, that had three different dates to dose the content), and then a documentary for all three of them since they were recorded together.

She better put this film on demand soon because I’m sitting here with a 17-day old baby and won’t be in a theater for a while :coffee2: loving reading all of the reviews so far!

I think people are referring more to the the fact that the collaborators on the project would feel gutted and that would impact future projects cause word of mouth would be "you can't count on Beyonce doing anything with ur hard-worked product cause she might just one day think they are not cute enough"

But that happens all the time in the industry… in fact, it’s pretty common that things get scrapped. Does it suck? Absolutely. Doesn’t stop projects from being cancelled or not see the light of the day.

these people are part of the business....many people work on projects that don't get greenlit all the time. as long as they got their check for their services...they are fine. this is the nature of the actual business....not fake industry stan execs.

Wrong cause you can bet Bey makes them sign a contact that basically gives all zhe right of the intellectual and creative properly to Bey, which means the ideas and concepts they use for that project basically go to waste when not used

And trust and believe: If you get the call that Bey wants you to work for her, you give your best work and self to her

I would agree with this take if she didn’t scrap music videos altogether. We don’t even get a break my soul vid?

Like EIL was probably going to be a visual album as well, based on how much they filmed with Melina, and only a little bit of that became the tour backdrops for OTR II, just like this scenario. But she at LEAST gave us a music video. Why tease a whole visual and not give us at least a taste? It’s lowkey cruel

I'd kind of prefer none than just one.

One, imo, seems far messier than none. At least none is a statement in itself. One is plodding and would feel like she can't make up her mind....release them or not.

This is exactly what I think is happening. I don’t think they are scrapped at all, moreso this is all part of her weird plan.

a good creative can come up with more than one good idea in their careers though.

this contract scenario would also cover every iterative idea as well. so even if the visuals were released tomorrow, but a creative had a brilliant idea that never made it to set, that idea is still "owned" by Parkwood. that's just how this business works and it's not even particularly exploitative so long as they were paid to come up with the ideas.

So what exactly did the netflix deal entail? Was it only for Homecoming? If she had a deal with them then why would she shop around for other streamers? Maybe Netflix felt slighted after black is king.

I don't think the "Netflix deal" was ever confirmed. It was always a rumor with details unknown.

voice of reason. I'll die on this hill. Act II is a new album, Act III is a visual/film combining both.

You can't deny that working with Beyonce, with a wonderful product wouldn't open up tons of doors though.

I mean look at what happened when Warner Bros. announced that they were shelving a film - a film that was fully completed and ready for release - for a tax writeoff. A tsunami of backlash from within the industry as well as from the knowing public, which actually forced Warners to start shopping the film to other studios. Why? Because it made people mad. It made artists and technicians mad. People who didn't even work on the film were enraged not only for their peers but because it sets a shitty precedent for an industry already on dangerous ground. Yes, everyone got paid. That is not the point.

Beyonce ZASLAV don't be like that. You better have a plan for these music videos.

Exactly.

Im all for praising Bey when she gets it right (see the concert film), but we also have to call out her bs

Justifying and reasoning her every move is not doing her nor us any favor

We don't know WHAT the contract says and even still...that's the nature of the business.

its not the end of the world that they may have designed, danced, filmed, edited, etc a Beyonce project that didn't come to light. this is par for course in all sectors of the creative industry. movies, music videos, TV shows, songs, albums, etc get shelved everyday.

One can not deny that, and still Beyoncé would be under no obligation personally or professionally to release something she does not want to that has been created under her name from her company and attached to her work.

If a makeup artist did her makeup for an event, and whether its good or bad, Beyoncé decided she didn't want to go anymore, should she be forced to attend anyway so that this makeup artist gets exposure? Or is paying them for their time actually all that is required?

It's 2031.

Blue ivy sits at her vanity as Beyonce raised her in her image.

At the other end of the Kaufland like mansion Rumi who has grown into a rebel ***** comes storming into Sir's crib giggling 'look what I've got from the vault hihi'. She has a stick with the fwt dvd in one hand and one with the Renaissance visuals in the other. She plays them into her laptop and asks Sir about it to which he uninterestedly replies while playing with this Apple Pro VR set 'just upload them lol'.

And so she does and the Hive SNATCHES them real quick and justice is finally served.

If the visuals are completely out of the picture she’ll let us know in the next written interview, just like she did with the FWT DVD.

I'm pretty sure the post-its referred to the tour movie.

"I'M NOT MAKING A FILM. IT'LL LIVE IN MY HEAD."

RENAISSANCE: A FILM BY BEYONCÉ

there's no reason to assume it's about the visuals.

i haven't watch the movie yet because it's only debuting here on december 21, so i don't have full context for the post-it... but couldn't it be about thr tour concept? we're all welcomed to 'mother's mind' on the Renaissance Intro, so maybe an early draft for the tour had a 'movie' concept that was scrapped for the concept we had?

A single makeup artist engaged for a few hours =/= hundreds of people involved in pre-, principal, and post-production over the course of several months or over a year.

While the doc part was put together very well, it wasn’t really that interesting cuz it was bunch of stuff I knew as a fan, you know?

exactly this !! like it was all nice to see but i expected a more in depth look into how she came up with the tour’s concept, how she recorded the album, her filming the interludes etc

not her saying she loves Houston, Diana & Tina for the millionth time :rip:

i’m NOT waiting till 2026 for her to let me know that year old music videos are scrapped

My point was not that it was the same scale, but that the logic should apply in both cases. And in actuality, appearing in hair and makeup you don't like or don't want to be seen in once is a lot different than releasing a film for your comeback album that you are not happy with.

It's still Beyoncé's name who is attached to the film as a star, writer, producer, director, etc. as well as being the person whose music is soundtracking the film. The amount of people involved does not relate to the extent to which a film MUST be released even if the person who worked the most on it, or at least who will be associated to it far longer and to a greater extent than anyone else is not ready or unsatisfied with releasing it.

we got so much new information in the documentary part, and we got a look into her life at a level we haven't seen in over a decade.

some of you are impossible to please.

re: the visual scrapping discourse — it is legal and common, but that doesn't mean people involved don't care when it happens?

if you pour your blood sweat tears into a Beyoncé project only for it to get scrapped, would you go back to work with her when she needs you for Act II or whatever?

something like that won't fly. it's like having an unexplained gap in your resumé, yet you did all the work.

If you watched that film and think beyonce told us the same thing she has always said..you are DUMB. And it shows you did not actually listen to what she is saying. This is the most raw and vulnerable she has ever been. Not everything has to be explicitly stated, the scene where she is crying about how messed up the industry is and how she's been through some shi* was so open that i  am shocked she actually left that in there.

It was excellent and artful. Its called the RENAISSANCE FILM not a documentary about her entire life.
