how could you watch the tour film and think she's creatively bankrupt? maybe the vision just didn't come out right, and instead of spending more time/money trying to make it perfect, she chose to focus on the tour instead. bey has already done 3 (4 including bday) visual albums. from a creative and strategic standpoint, its actually healthy to move on from that format. bey has said before she doesn't like to repeat herself too many times. the impact and success of her visual projects is evident due to how many people have copied them. she achieved what she wanted to in that area

Well I didn't watch it cause it's only coming out on the 21st in my flop ass country  But regardless, I think the two mediums are quite different.

 

I like what you are saying and agree to an extent but my point still stands. She didn't need make another visual film for her album; matter of fact I don't think most of us expected that when the album was announced. It's herself that put it out into the world that a 'visual component will come at a later date' and released that ITG teaser which pretty much confirms there's a larger project behind (she wouldn't do 30 different sets and outfits for ITG alone lbr). 

 

So it's her that decided to 'repeat herself' in the first place, but that doesn't really make a lot of sense to me because there's only so much you can do with this music video format. It's an artform that inherently repeats itself and there's nothing wrong with that, it's the artistry that goes behind it that keeps it exciting and thrilling after so many decades since its debut. So yes, the idea of her not being happy with the work she's done for at least a couple of stand alone music videos is quite worrying to me and would rather believe the reason of them not being out is anything else but that. 

I just can't imagine the visuals didn't turn out, I mean Nadia Lee Cohen is brilliant, Beyonce is brilliant, there were a ton of cameos, Arca worked on some of it, Andrew is wonderful, and the clips we have seen are wonderful.

 

I think there was supposed to originally be a documentary of making the album/visuals packaged with the visuals similarl to the tour film, and unfortunately no one bit.  We have some evidence, early in the release of Rennie, several people mentioned things that could allude to a documentary like the original interview from the guys from Virgos Groove (that was scrubbed), and the interview with The Dream, paired with the article from the guy about her shopping the visuals around. 

 

Who knows if we will ever see them.

maybe it took her trying to repeat the process another time to learn this. she might have felt she needed to do a visual album simply because she's good at it and everyone expects it, without thinking about if it was the smartest or healthiest decision

Then don't allude to them by name on the tour, especially not by mocking us and telling us to get our fork and spoon ready for the crumbs (shampoo, perfume, olive oil) you feel like offering instead. And don't sell merchandise alluding to them, again a mockery of our confusion and disappointment. Miss Press Releasé who claims to have invented the visual album format can type up another one about how she uninvented it and changed the game again. She wanna be aloof only until it's time to troll us and we're not gonna take this anymore.

OR address it that way in the film/docu she just released.  She could've easily had a 5 minute blurb about the interludes, and included that the visuals didn't work out.

So what exactly did the netflix deal entail? Was it only for Homecoming? If she had a deal with them then why would she shop around for other streamers? Maybe Netflix felt slighted after black is king. 

 

Either way the optics don't really look good for her and Parkwood. It appears as if so many people put in hours and dedication for their work to not be recognized AND studios/companies no longer willing to deal with high cost demands based off current numbers with her releases.

Bey isn’t some independent, clumsy newcomer and stuff like this CAN NOT happen, certainly not at her caliber and i know i may be a little dramatic but she honestly deserves to be sued for this & if she truly scrapped the visuals i hope it’ll haunt her till the end of time

Because they said they were coming, multiple times, for 1.5 years.  We didn't make them up, there was even a press release, a trailer, it's addressed IN THE TOUR

They're not mutually exclusive. We can be very happy with the tour movie (as I presume most of us are) and still want to see at least some music videos for the songs. 

 

It's not like we demand her go make an entire visual album because we ask so, but simply release something that we know she has already done and that she announced would be coming out.

the energy when everyone danced and sang during the ITG/Cozy/AS section was just off the charts like WOW. everyone cheered for Blue & Rumi and all the funny things they/Bey said or did. When Jay came on everybody boo’d him, twice (as they should). when Yvette came on there were light boo’s coupled with confused silence, people really do NOT know that woman 

 

 

now on to some nitpicking : i couldn’t focus on the mixing/production bc the girls were LOUD but i’m sure they put the horns all the way in the back during the second cozy chorus, aka you barely hear them which is kinda electric chair worthy cause it’s literally THE best thing about cozy’s live arrangement ??

same for the horns at the end of BMS, you barely hear them… I hope that won’t be the case in the live album cause if there’s one thing Bey really knows how to do it’s including horns in her live recordings. like that’s really her thing and her thing only. 
I also kinda hated how they changed AHAP’s structure to include Kendrick, it doesn’t work for me but whatever, i’m glad they included his verse nonetheless. at least she kept the CIL F5 thank god.

 

now i really don’t wanna complain cause we see and hear so little of her bts these days that it’s a blessing to see stuff like her recording Heated’s outro while lying on a coach (kiii), the scrapped stage concepts (so many thoughts on those alone like omg), her eating fastfood like a normal human etc, like all of it was amazing to see 

 

BUT, in the context of the movie/era/tour, i feel like a lot of the documentary footage was kinda useless or at least a bit redundant (as a stan at least, i guess for casual fans it was more than enough). like @Shone Ai mentioned, were was the explanation for the concept ? why the futuristic robot aesthetic ? why was the setlist the way it was ? why was there no footage of her and Des explaining the final stage ? why did they work 4 years on this and how did it all come together ? i expected more in depth explanations about that part, not her thanking a bunch of people we all know inspired and opened the doors for her, but oh well. 

 

all in all the film’s a masterpiece, easily her best ever and i’m more than happy we finally got a tour film and a (hopefully) future live album 

While the doc part was put together very well, it wasn’t really that interesting cuz it was bunch of stuff I knew as a fan, you know?

The only reason I think the visuals must be coming at some point is because she and everyone around her must know that it would be terrible for her career and status to set this precedent. She has the greatest creative team in industry history. They've got to know that never releasing another frame of the visuals will turn important potential collaborators off for good.
