It's a really hard market to break, especially for albums that sound like folklore

Japan's market is almost entirely based on physicals so 

before yall come for taylor, Japanese music market is still 80-90% physical, meaning people buying copies at the store, so with covid19 and this being digital format only, it is bounce to happen.

I wouldn’t call Spotify numbers fake in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Maleysia, India and Philippines where she broke album debut records or China digital sales which acknowledged by IFPI, GUINESS or Bilboard but you do you. 

 

Thankfully Folklore is smashing in all over Asia in Spotify and AM as well.
