She hasnt updated her certs in years. She is really coming!

 

 

 

With this update, she also surpasses Madonna for Album Certifications

Mariah Carey (debut) needs to be updated to Diamond. And Merry Christmas down the road will also go Diamond so Mariah will have earned 4

It's still far away. According to chartmasters it shipped 9.2 million pure sales in the US (by 2017)

 

With SPS it must be around 9.5 million at most  (Unless chartmasters underestimated its sales)

I dont expect her debut album to be updated until next year when it celebrates its 30th anniversary. 

 

I am positive if it is THAT close, Sony will move for the Diamond certification.

How is that far away? That's so close to 10 million they should just certify it now, they always round up certs

Well the next year it will be the 30 year anniversary of her debut album. If she does something, it will go diamond real quick :duca: 

 

its just that Vision Of Love or her other #1s from that album doesn’t have huge streaming numbers, otherwise it was passed it a long time ago.

I noticed this. Mariah's debut album is full of amazing songs but it's not really generating streams that much.

 

Hopefully her label can campaign a little bit on its 30th anniversary so it can snag that diamond soon. It's very much deserving.

Or they can just do things to make Vision Of Love or Love Takes Time to get some streams. Her playlisting is terrible but her songs are very promo sensitive.

that gold certification is from 2005 :skull: so yea it's very likely it shot up to this point after all of the recurrent streams and sales

Madonna hasnt gotten a certification in years so this was bound to happen. 

Mariah is way under certified too.... The fact that she stays rising.

80S albums used to be so over-certified back when Soundscan didn't exit.
