Drake Achieves Ninth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With 'Care Package'

Drake achieves his ninth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as his new archival compilation album, Care Package, premieres in the top slot. The set, which was released on Aug. 2 via OVO Sound/Republic Records, launches with 109,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 8, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 16,000 were in album sales.

 

Care Package collects 17 of Drake’s stray tracks — many of which were never officially released and only available via Soundcloud or YouTube.

Among artists with the most No. 1s on the Billboard 200, Drake is in legendary company. He’s tied with Garth Brooks, Eminem, Madonna and The Rolling Stones with nine each. Ahead of them: The Beatles (19), Jay-Z (14), Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand (11), and Elvis Presley (10).

 

Drake extends his own record for the most No. 1 albums this decade, as all nine of his leaders have arrived since 2010. Care Package is also the first No. 1 album for OVO Sound, the label co-founded by Drake. All of Drake’s previous albums were released via Young Money/Cash Money/Republic.

How is Taylor 100%? Drake will be ahead of her on H100 artists and B200 aritsts will be close between the two. Only thing she has locked over him is touring.

Taylor is NOT guaranteed to be the AOTD at all.

 

Speak on things which you actually know... 

 

The decade end charts will likely (not entirely guaranteed) be compiled through inverse points, in which case Drake is ahead of Taylor on BOTH the Hot 100 and BB200. Rihanna is also ahead of Taylor on the Hot 100 by a large margin and not far below her on the BB200. Adele is literally several points away from both Drake and Taylor on the BB200 with ONLY two albums released this decade and is in the top ten of the Hot 100 with less than 10 singles released this decade. 

 

The top four artists of the decade will undoubtedly be: Drake, Taylor, Rihanna and Adele but their ranking is not as complete as you’d think.

 

The different metrics will all be weighed differently, some more than others, which will only benefit some artists when it comes to rankings. We have no idea what BB will do... and no, the year end charts are irrelevant to the decade end charts.

For example, Rihanna was the #4 Hot 100 Artist of the 2000’s and will be #1 or #2 (behind Drake) for the 2010’s.

i guess I thought artist of the decade is just overall for male, female and overall when you combine everything.

but if each category means artist of the decade then I stand corrected.
