It was a hit in Japan I think :suburban:

nnn; I meant more about what you were implying about the other girls. :suburban:

Wouldn't be the first time you tried All For Youth & Beauty this week. :suburban:

I still like All for You! I could never hate an album with a classy hoe anthem like Would You Mind on it

I'd be lying if I said any of those 3 albums are close to being in their respective artists' trinities for me though

Well, yes. That would be Body Language. :gaycat:

Maybe I'm just a little bitter about discography rates because most of my faves are dead/haven't released an album this side of like... Hurricane Katrina

Must be nice to have new music to talk about

:suburban:

Being boomer inclined is definitely part of it but I still rather use rates to listen to new music and artists, essentials collections for the ones I've wanted to get into are the dream for me but those would have the least participants of them all most likely, not to mention the bottleneck of potential hosts

This kind of would eat.

Yeah, when was the last time we did an essentials rate? Maybe that would help me get over my discographyphobia

I don't remember if there ever ended up being any for another artist but there was also the Beatles classics rate which I co-hosted that was a fun spin on things

No, but really. I am obsessed with that concept. Rebrand the old Essentials rates (which were just us rating all of the non-singles iirc) into a learning experience for the girls. A sleek 40-song rate (or 50?) including a combination of the artist's most iconic, important, and memorable singles, album tracks, and b-sides.

I've been toiling with wanting to host a Prince rate for years and this would be an awesome way to do it and maybe convert a few girls to the cult of purple. Or Dame Donna Summer! Aretha? Jump forward a decade and do Blondie? The Talking Heads?

And I would die if somebody did Tori Amos. Been putting off diving into her work for years. :chick1:

Oh, I would love to listen and learn with a Beatles Essentials rate. My brain craves more music!!

I think I had the playlist for that one saved forever and never bothered listening wkejnhweh I would do something like that again, ofc I would want someone who I've never gave a proper listen before but it definitely would need to be the sweet spot between ATRL MPG fave and super niche

Let me do this for PJ Harvey so ATRL will finally stop sleeping on her.

I would say yes to Prince a hundred times over ofc. I still need to listen to his final stretch of albums tho not to be a fake stan... And I would love one for the other GOAT Stevie

My Aretha rate was a bubbling under hit back in the day :sabrina:

Or maybe we could do specific genres of eras/decades too

I was about to suggest! I already hosted her singles rate back in the day so it could be a cute next step.

I give you advanced permission to spam me with tags and hunt me down if I don't participate.

If ATRL wasn't so malephobic, Marvin might be another good one. Too many nonevent early singles for a full singles rate, some album tracks that are fairly known. But alas... :suburban:

No you don't. :sabrina:

But yas to Stevie.

A bit hetero, but Springsteen? Will be difficult to find room with all of Nebraska on the playlist tho.

Get ur life, mama.

Part of me was kind of tempted to suggest a Men of Soul sequel to the Ladies of Jazz rate when it's done but considering how many of you seem to prefer deeper dives on individual artists maybe I won't :suburban:
