Eminem Makes Chart History

Eminem Makes Chart History With Eighth Consecutive No. 1 Debut on Billboard 200

eminem-performance-march-2016-billboard-

With “Revival’s” No. 1 debut, he’s the first act in history to have eight chart entries in a row bow at No. 1.

Eminem is the first act in the history of the Billboard 200 chart with eight consecutive chart entries to bow at No. 1. He previously opened at No. 1 with his last seven releases: The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013), Recovery (2010), Relapse (2009), the best-of set Curtain Call: The Hits (2005), Encore (2004), The Eminem Show (2002) and The Marshall Mathers LP (2000). His only charting effort to miss the top was his major label debut album, The Slim Shady LP, which topped out at No. 2 in 1999.

No wonder they had to push back the release so it wouldn't compete with Reputation

He would've still scored the #1 had it been released on Reputation's second week as it was rumored.

King breaking records and snatching #1 albums 22 years into his career and over 40M albums sold. Only a legend :alexz:

She’s technically already there if you include the Dreamgirls soundtrack and #1s.

Right?

If I remember correctly, EVERY solo Jay-Z studio album since 1998/Hard Knock Life has been a #1 album. (Knowing how Jay picks his release weeks I have a hard time seeing any of these albums not debut at #1).  His first two albums are the only two studio albums in his catalogue to miss #1 in the US, charting at #23 and #3 respectively.

He currently has 11 #1 studio albums, and another 2 collaborative #1 albums (one with Kanye, the other R. Kelly). His EP with Linkin Park also went #1.

So Jay leads, Eminem is 2nd, and the rest of the field:

Beyonce: 6 Consecutive #1 albums (9 with Soundtracks, DC, and compilations)

Taylor: 5 Consecutive #1 albums

Kanye: 6 Consecutive #1 albums (7 with WTT)

Britney: 4 Consecutive #1 albums (6 altogether)

Drake: 4 Consecutive #1 albums (7 with collabs/mixtapes)

DMX: 5 Consecutive #1 albums

Usher: 4 Consecutive #1 albums

*Also Mariah, Whitney, Michael, and Janet.
