Zayn - His solo debut era in 2016 was a success. However, his "pretty face" lets him reach over million likes with his Instagram selfies and let him be "big" as a celebrity (and thanks to Gigi Hadid) to make up being a non event as a musician. His stans make excuses for him in any controversies.

 

Shawn Mendes - He had success in the late 2010s. He also started out on Vine and Magcon boy group. However, he gets talked about in this forum as much as other pop girls way more often than other pop boys that are more successful in the 2020s than him.

a large majority of the girls' push, is their looks (while at least half of the men, are just ugle/meh)

 

but at the same time, there are rarely any girls who continue their success, just because of their looks

it's not that easy to sustain popularity just for that..

Britney's success was due to the fact she relied on her beauty/sex appeal. She was a label puppet: a white version of Janet Jackson. 

 

When whe got too old for these gimmicks (circa Femme Fatale era), the GP abandoned her.

 

Katy Perry, to a lesser extent. I think she managed to create a singular image for herself during the TD era.
