For someone who sells really well and writes songs cheesy or not, its a bit baffling that her vocals live are really not good but she gets away with it. 

 

Black artist (esp black women ) in general always have to strive to be excellent and be better than most to get half of what their white counterparts gets.

 

Do you think VOCALISTS like Alicia keys, Beyonce etc can etc can get away with Taylor's vocal....competence?

PinkPantheress' vocals are 10x worse...(I do like her music though)

No. Just look at the Taylor lip syncing thread, all sticking up for her. You can't even hear her voice over the backtrack anymore. 

 

Alicia gets dragged for her vocals all the time.

As the OP already knows, the primary reason Taylor is so popular is her songwriting. Not every artist has to be able to sing like Whitney or Celine

Tell them to write their own songs for their own vocal range, tone and style and then sing them and we'll see.

Rihanna is a mediocre overall artist and yes that includes tragic vocals that are only considered remarkable by delulu fans.

The tragic vocals in question were those of Taylor on TIWYCF which made Calvin fly out and fetch Rihanna instead. It doesn’t get more embarrassing than that

No. Just look at Rihanna and how people bash her for being “talentless”, but others have literally PRAISED someone like Selena Gomez for having a “good career despite no talent” or whatever + they eat up her whisper vocals like no tomorrow too. But Rihanna gets dragged for everything under the sun even though her discography is full of literal classics.

Not sure what anyone expected really. There was no way she was going to pull off that number of your dates with that many songs on her set list without fully lip syncing. Even then, I can still envision her losing her voice for an extended period of time (genuinely or fictitiously) and then crafting a whole PR’d album cycle around it though.
