Tinashe speaks on never being GRAMMY nominated
The songs RCA was promoting as singles (2 On, All Hands, Superlove, Player, No Drama, Me So Bad) were NOT Grammy bait. Same reason why Aquarius got nothing and she didn't get BNA. The first few projects she put out independently flew under the radar so those were not going to get acknowledged. Same for her mixtapes, side projects and buzz tracks, which is where her best music was. Nasty was a good moment for her, but it's more of a song for P4K/online than the Grammy's. Besides, to even entertain the idea that a song with a #61 peak was going to sneak into Record of the Year or the lyrics "I've been a nasty girl nasty, is somebody gonna match my freak" repeated 26 times were going to be recognized as Song of the Year, is delusional. As delusional as this podcast host thinking, even semi-jokingly, he may eventually HOST the Grammy's. Even Popstar, with all the acclaim, still doesn't feel like the type of thing the Grammy's nominate. Maybe Melatonin for Dance if she actually promotes it. But even that... Idk. She's getting love from other, cooler corners. The Grammy's may or may not see her at some point.

Miley posts teaser video
I'm very glad she's doing this. She needs fanbase engagement asap (and a sign of gratitude for all the people who bought 20 variants). I think it would cause severe career damage if she just left the era dead in its ditch after the #1 peak. I'm not sure why people have been so checked out after Flowers, even though she's dropped some of her best music but she should keep pushing regardless. The new album isn't as good as SB, but Different Religion, Redlights and Orbit deserve to reach more ears, somehow.

Is Taylor's backlash valid?
The backlash over these specific 4 songs is not valid because they're mostly fine. Their 'badness' is being exaggerated because of an accumulated Taylor fatigue, which is extremely valid because she's a below-mediocre artist who's been releasing bad music in huge quantities for too long. I blame The Tortured Vinyl Factories. No one needed 35 new Taylor songs in 24 hours.

MILEY - 'Bass Persuades'
She should have done the VMAs, for fanbase feeding purposes if not for anything else. If she couldn't bother learning the BP choreo, she could have done Let's Get Married or whatever

Spotify | Miley Cyrus - Bass Persuades (Album) | Day 9: 1,906,715
This isn't even a flop. This is non-existence. The album has, clearly, only been played by her (small) fanbase and a minority of pop fans. She needs to get out there and perform. There's no reason not to be performing her lead at the VMAs and maybe hit up a few talk shows and perform Redlights, the only song holding up on streams.

Can Taylor turn this around?
I think Taylor Swift's main issue is that there is way too much Taylor Swift music out there already and, unless she figures out how to turn back time, there's nothing she can do about that. 3/4 of these panned deluxe songs are actually solid, harmless songs but she's made so many similar ones that people are just exhausted and vomit out the new ones. Whatever she makes next, even if it's with a new co-writer and producer like her fans beg her, it's bound to sound like one of the 300+ songs she's already churned out. And that's more songs than we have (or need) even from artists that are actually talented and interesting, let alone her.

Chlöe & Timbaland - 'Resurrection'
Well, slow midtempo? It's not a dance song

MILEY - 'Bass Persuades'
A VMA's performance of Bass Persuades (with Different Religion thrown in for a few seconds) would kind of give this album a lifeline I think She's... not gonna be there, right?
- Did Miley have to rush release Bass Persuades cause of Taylor?

Chlöe & Timbaland - 'Resurrection'
This is by far my favorite song on the album, but the visual is NOT it. Why is she dancing this hard for an r&b ballad? This ain't "Freakum Dress". I feel kind of bad for Chloe and other similarly talented girls because she is a BEAST but the r&b music that's currently viable is slow and moody. I feel that ever since Treat Me flopped, she's been trying to normalize her sound and go for basic, commercial r&b, but if she's still performing and visualizing like this, it won't work. She might as well stick to releasing "Body Do" and ignore the haters calling it Empire music.

Thank you Miley, 143 is safe now
143 will never be safe. It was her second comeback attempt after years of building up goodwill and she ran back to the highly problematic hitmaker of her prime in the promise of success, planning a long and extensive rollout with multiple singles each with a glossy high budget video, a VMAs medley, the whole thing. What makes 143 such a pathetic disaster is how she was so aggressively aiming for a re-peak only to sink to the absolute bottom of the pop barrell. Miley bombed but with significantly less desperation and effort. Her 143 would be if she put on a Bangerz wig and released a Mike Will Made It lead single with a video of her sucking on a doorknob or something.

Beabadoobee - 'Pylon'
Hmmm, on first spin, this doesn't appeal to me as much as the previous album, which was my favorite from her. I liked 'Estranged', 'Write me a Letter' and 'Radio' (and out of the singles I really liked Memories), but... even those didn't really leave an impression. I'll revisit at some point to see if it grows, which is likely.

Why doesn't Miley get lashed as hard for flopping?
Girl OMG I had completely forgotten about the Tainy/Balvin song (like everyone else). That had a TWO HUNDRED FORTY (240) MILLION playlist reach. Literally twice as much as Bass Persuades and they put it on every sub-genre and every mood playlist, all for a #66 peak The nerve of you to say she had 1/10th of Miley's playlist promo. Can't Get Enough (with J Balvin/Tainy): 239 million Call Me When You Break Up (with Gracie Abrams): 146 million Ojos Tristes (with the Marias): 140 million Sunset Blvd: 60 million Bluest Flame: 35 million = 620 MILLION -- -- -- QUADRUPLE BARRIER -- -- -- Bass Persuades: 121 million Let's Get Married: 46 million = 167 MILLION

Why doesn't Miley get lashed as hard for flopping?
This is definitely an under-estimation. She hasn't had a huge era, sure, but Plastic Hearts has over 4 billion streams and Nothing Breaks Like a Heart was huge outside the US and continues to get big streams. She's definitely not post-Loose Nelly Furtado and she's taken more seriously now than when she was more successful.

Why doesn't Miley get lashed as hard for flopping?
She has already been dragged several times (Can't be Tamed, Younger Now) and she came back with a career defining smash hit every time. The girls understand the statistics. Her career has always come in random spikes as opposed to consistent success. Besides, who would even drag her? She's never been MPG enough to be targeted by the hive, monsters etc, she's been around too long to be mixed up in the Sabrina/Olivia/Dua conversation, she's an actually interesting artist so the swifties don't feel any threat to their fave's manufactured mass appeal, the Arianators are peaceful and never had beef with Miley... so who's left? Selena and Demi stans? There are 20 of them in total and they probably know their girls are even more over than Miley.

Spotify | Miley Cyrus - Bass Persuades (Album) | Day 9: 1,906,715
Let's Get Married collapsing by nearly 60% is the real issue here. We know the album bombed for now, but a little hit could turn it around and this one won't be it. Let's try smallest decreaser and, appparent, fan favorite REDLIGHTS? Or just put Smile and Taste of My Own on a mid-week emergency deluxe?

Atlantic Records, you need to be ashamed
Gayle was a laughing stock right out the gate and is basically relegated to an industry example of manufactured faux-virality. She was not going to recover and the fact that she went on as a Taylor Swift opener despite that is an accolade for Atlantic. Ravyn is my girl and I love her down, but there are several issues going on that are not Atlantic's. She's had a gigantic hit, but it's almost entirely isolated and few people are going to her artist page because of it. Labels, unfortunately, have ways of weighing their investment before it happens, and I'm sure they took notice that her double lead single announcement got no traction on social media, the songs (probably) got no pre-saves and the Dominic Fike song (at the height of his hype) completely fell flat despite being promoted on playlists. It just reached 10 million streams after months. I wish they had done a bit more for her, but the numbers were not there for them to get the full engine running for her rollout. I hope Love Me Not's second wind turns that around for her.
