The first track, "Hit the Wall" is a slower alternative electronic track, lead by an enchanting synth with soft vocals. The songwriting on the track is great and showcases the strong growth that has happened since Abrams' last record, "The Secret of Us." She dives into the issues of her relationship caused by her own personal mental problems. She beautifully, hauntingly sings regretful lyrics over the rich instrumentation, created by long-time collaborator Aaron Dessner of The National.

"Death Wish" is another great track with country-pop influences, largely differing from the live version she performed bare on the piano over a year ago during her The Secret of Us Tour. The lyrics share similarities with another track, "Men Like You," in the way that both of them discuss her falling out somebody she used to idolize. On this song, her voice beautifully blends with the acoustic guitar in the verses before the more confident tone of the chorus, which shows the emotions that fuel the track.

"The Knife" is a slower song, piano-based. While it is one of my least favorites from this record, it is a signature Gracie ballad. The bridge is especially good and really shows how strong her songwriting has became.

"Look at My Life" is arguably the most upbeat song of this record, contrary to the depressive lyrics. She blends electronic synths and pop beats with soul-crushing lines about feeling like you have everything you've ever wanted, but still being unhappy with your life. This is perhaps her most experimental song to date. The highlight of this track for me is the bridge, where she sings, "Maybe if I smile enough, I'll get away with giving up / I'll move across the country just to hate myself not just as much as when I'm standing here," although the lyrics are direct and forward, they show the raw sadness of the track.

"Sober" strips us back down into a slower sound again, giving us another look into Gracie's ability to make a great ballad. In the chorus, her soft tone blends with the guitar and drums perfectly, creating a magical listening experience. The lyrics on this one are some of the most romantic on the album, battling only with "Afflictions."

"What If it's Right?," reminds me of something you would hear from Taylor Swift on her work with Aaron Dessner. A beautiful song, with intriguing lyrics that discuss the uncertainty and doubt in the early stages of a relationship, being unsure to jump first, even though you feel something for them. The guitar on this one is beautifully played, and the song is the longest on the album, clocking in at almost five minutes long.

"Broke My Heart" is a synth-focused track with rich production. In the chorus, the instrumental blossoms into your ears, sounding amazing. She delivers the hook by spacing out and emphasizing the words, giving us a look into the feeling behind the track.

"Men Like You" is an alternative pop song that is a signature Aaron Dessner type production, showing similarities with fan-favorite track "I Told You Things," and another great song, "Cool." The plucky piano keys are beautifully played and sound great. The lyrics are a dig at somebody she used to greatly look up to and idolize, and she even lets herself take on an unserious tone in the hook, saying "Girl, I know men like you!"

"Mews" is a beautiful piano-based track that builds throughout the song, before rising and falling back down by the ending. The structure of the song is unique, giving us the bridge around a minute into the song. She sings about the sickening topic of a breakup you didn't see it coming, and regretting being so sure of the relationship before. She sings in a seemingly disappointed tone.

"Afflictions" is a love song, the production is similar to "Men Like You," but they also feel like completely different songs. Fans have referred to this track as "I Like This House" on socials since January when she posted a video of her playing it at the piano.

"Just Like the Movies" accompanies "Look at My Life" as one of the more upbeat songs on this record. This track's lyrics seem to be neither sad nor happy, they speak to me as more of a flat-out acceptance "This is what it is" vibe. The production reminds me of something you would hear on Lorde's infamous debut album, "Melodrama," yet mixed with the signature Aaron Dessner sound. Definitely a standout track from this album.

"Daughter from Hell" avenges the fan-favorite unreleased track "Crazy Girl" that Gracie performed live last summer, using a remade version of the lyrics from the song. Instead of admiring any other woman, she appears to be admiring her own mother, stating how much she loves different things about her. The instrumentation features a blend of alternative rock and a beautifully played piano.

"Good Reason" is my personal favorite from this album and Gracie's entire discography, showing similarities to the popular song "Fade Into You" by "Mazzy Star," but still strongly showing originality. The lyrics are beautifully written and talk about how it feels to leave a relationship without probable cause, and even feeling sorry for the person you're doing this to. The instrumentation blends a collection of acoustic guitars, pianos and drums together perfectly, complimenting her beautiful singing on the track that's completed by the heavy ad-libs and background vocals throughout the song.

"Maple Place" is a beautiful country-pop influenced ballad, seeing Gracie singing about heavy topics such as the issues with the American government and the Los Angeles wildfires of 2025. The lyrics showcase Gracie's ability to amazingly write a political track.

"Cold Goodbyes" ends the album on a strong note. The song isn't very heavy with production, with her vocals mainly accompanied by a hand-played piano, giving the emotional lyrics the spotlight. The track was previously performed live in February of 2025, quickly becoming a fan-favorite. The rawness of the track reminds me of one of my favorite songs by her, "Hard to Sleep."

"Imaginary Friend," the introduction to the deluxe, is another standout track from Gracie's discography, despite being one of her shortest songs, clocking in at only two and a half minutes long. The production is shockingly upbeat, but still sounds like something you'd expect to hear from Gracie. The lyrics discuss having sexual fantasies and the frustration of them not being real. It even includes the boldly horny lyrics, "Is it me or is it so hot? Is it time to take our clothes off?," creating a shock for listeners.

"Love Letter" is once again a career highlight, showing slight similarities to "Can't Catch Me Now" by Olivia Rodrigo. The chorus shows her beautiful vocals blending perfectly with an amazingly played acoustic guitar. The lyrics dive into a raw desperation for a lover, and being unafraid to insane things such as cutting off a limb for them.

"Jackson," a collaboration with Bon Iver, closes off this chapter beautifully. The ending of this song feels extremely final, like the perfect ending to a story. To me, the instrumental sounds like something that you'd hear in a pirate film, but it's great. The lyrics appear to be written about a relationship where Gracie's boyfriend chose another woman over her, and she's sure that it's going to destroy him inside forever. There's also a lingering feeling of confusion and sadness throughout the song. By the end of the song, she seems more bitter and strong, closing us out with the line "Damn, the story's really written itself."
