It's just a cope for bad music

There is good fun music then there's that music these people try to defend

It's cope. Fun music has been made since the beginning of music itself.

People always crying about not criticizing "fun" music today can't handle discourse about song craftsmanship.

The thing is, yall are choosy when it comes to fun. If the "fun" is from an artist you dont like its suddenly not so fun anymore.

Depends on the song, if it's a departure from a past sound into something more upbeat, it's usually valid since people are just opposed to new directions sometimes.

If it's just in response to a truly brain rotted or hyper generic song, then yes it is cope

Doesn't it get boring liking same pop girl over and over and the way they'll hate on BTS and skz is ridiculous. Like it's so boring. I said what I said stanning pop girls isn't fun.

It's definitely a coping mechanism, generally. Fun music can still have depth and musicianship. In more specific instances, it can be valid. It's relative.

This type of defense for lazy content has gotten very loud over the years. For instance, a lot of people online expressed genuine anger at critics giving a low rating to the Super Mario Galaxy movie and using the argument of, "it's a kids movie, it's not that deep," when they is art that is made with children in mind that is still intelligently and artfully crafted; children deserve better than corporate slop with benign brand references and boardroom-engineered attempts at chasing trends.

Always the popper gays who say this who exclusively listen to the most vapid and mind numbing ****. Ironically they are the most pretentious (ironic considering they call it pretentious if you're not someone who likes that) and will dunk on a random act they have specifically decided they don't like despite being in the same general sphere of music as the ones they listen to.

But, I guess in some ways there are some truth to it. I listen to mostly emo and sad rap music and have a general aversion to most fun songs.

Cope because being fun and being good aren't mutually exclusive.

I mean we are still allowed to have an opinion. Fun music can be good... But it shouldn't be used to lower our expectations.
