Milei's government is facing a deepening economic crisis in Argentina: Dollar shortage, persistent inflation, rising unemployment, and corruption scandals.

This can't be possible. I was told by the government that our economy was thriving!

When you reach a point where everyone has spoken about racism from Argentines, to the point that it's what they're known for, it's a major issue.

Its easy to get snarky about this but really this is just tragic.

The thing with Argentina is that it is plagued with chronic hyperinflation, thanks to the government printing money to meet its dues to its many coalitions and interest groups. Its not a surprise that Millei gained a constituency over his shock doctrine like economics because generally by theory, thats what fixes or controls inflation.

The problem with his approach however is its very socially costly, as we can see now. And Argentina afaik is filled with state run or influenced companies. So this diet pretty much ensures mass unemployment and societal collapse. Which then leads to a Peronist that prints its itself out of the problem. and the cycle goes on and on
