There's too many songs so I'll need to take my time with this, but popping here to say Poor Thang is ******* phenomenal. What a song.

Why is he retiring? His last album?

most rappers get called washed, weak, old, he fell off. so he planned a rollout named “the fall off” to not overstay his welcome in music and retire while he still decent. he been planning his retirement since 2018-2019 (around middle child era) and spend more time wit his wife/kids and do more on the business side.

being of fan of him it makes me sad but i doubt he will fully retire tho. he prob do some random feats.

He might also surprise us with the It's A Boy album or EP later this year (or 10 years from now, for all we know) from kiLL Edward, an alter-ego he's been teasing since 2018.

why has everyone been calling him homophobic or transphobic lately? what he do? 💀

Love Cole but idk I found the album boring and repetitive? I do think there's smth rly cool and noble about him singing about his wife and his deep love for her, in 2025, not even just in rap, in music in general that's so rare. Overall, it's ok.

NGL I'm far more excited for Drake's album, surprised he's not on this album. Hopefully they're still friends after the K*ndrick situation.

His song SAFETY is about him feeling guilt for discriminating his late friend who was gay.

It seemed just like a mystery
Some say it was Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
We been known what team he acknowledged
Since we was kids, he lived in a closet
But that changed soon as he went to college
Up there wilin' in the A&T
Runnin' with fruity types, dick in the booty types
Tight pants, switchin' their hips, paintin' their nails
So ****** from the 'Ville, we had to distance ourselves

Oh! not dick in the booty types

I am thoroughly impressed. I still think 2014 Forest Hills Drive is his magnum opus, but he's going out on a high note, and this may outpace 2014FHD for sheer number of 10/10 tracks.

I'll keep updating as I'm listening right now.

Songs I will keep: "Poor Thang", "Legacy", "Bunce Road Blues", "Who TF IZ U", "Drum n' Bass", "The Let Out" (love this song - this might be near the top 15 of his career... I will say this is the type of record I would see Rihanna hopping on the hook 10 years ago and taking it to Grammys and #1), "Bombs In The Ville" (love his backing vocals) / "Hit The Gas", "Lonely At The Top", "39 Intro" (I think SYD or Steve Lacy from The-Internet would've been the perfect person for the vocal parts), "The Fall-Off Is Inevitable" (love the swirling backing vocals and soul instrumental loop), "The Villest" (I see you, Erykah Badu), "Life Sentence" (I see this becoming a recurring wedding IG post and Black wedding song - might be the diamond-certified song from this album), "Only You" (love the earnestness of his vocals, but the album crafter who wants a perfect album in me sees Frank Ocean or SZA doing vocals), "What If" (I like the concept and this sounds like a student of history writing - right where he should be), "Quik Stop" (in a perfect world, this monotone hook would have been 50 Cent with Tyler the Creator on high harmony), "and the whole world is the Ville" (that "white mother" line was an L, and "talking to a mic for your therapy" is also trash advice in the Black community).

Sidebar thoughts as I listen:

Sidebar 1: Not saving it but honorable mention: Something about the production of "Old Dog" reminds me of Destiny's Child. dies The keyboard chords, hook, and the beat reminds me of "Lose My Breath" and "Survivor".

Sidebar 2: Wow... somewhere between "Life Sentence" and "Only You" I decided I will be purchasing this. Feeling emotional right now: Starting to actually feel like this might be the end of his career. dancehall3 If the quality stays up I'm purchasing.

Sidebar 3: Him trying to mimic the phone ring in "Quik Stop" took me clean out of the song ngl... dies but I got back in when he started painting the picture of the gas station in the unfamiliar hood.

Sidebar 4: "Ocean Way" should've been Seal on vocals... but I see what he was trying to do. Still Buying this album.

fin. It's been a wild ride, Cole. One that took me from freshman year of high-school to my entire adult life so far.
