I think YA YA is so quintessentially Beyoncé, like it's a song she was genuinely destined to create one day, given that Tina's her idol (another reason act iii is going to be her greatest album). And I can't imagine a world without it, especially after how electrifying it was at BeyBowl and CCT. However, that first listen of AHAP in 2022 (and honestly, every subsequent listen since) was an out-of-body experience.

Sonically, lyrically, thematically, vocally, it was just so out of left field for her, and I still marvel every time I hear it. I feel similarly about PURE/HONEY

It doesn't feel right to say AHAP is my fave Beyonka song of all time but I cannot lie. As she states in the song it is truly crack to my ears. They can clown her all they want but truly there is an art form to sampling and you can't just tack on an old song and sing over it, she takes the message and spins it around and then elevates the production and uses her vocals to make an entirely new song. The aesthetic, production, and live rendition of AHAP just scratches my brain in a satisfactory way

Lets be REAL real for a sec: That last paragraph also completely applies to the entire sequence from Im That Girl to Alien Superstar. That was so unlike anything shes ever done before. I was SHOOK

Yes, yea and of course!

When I first heard Ya Ya I felt fed. For hag hive in particular!! It's what we want from her. Vocally!

in 2005/06 she would have easily made that a single… ppl just don't digest that kind of delivery the same anymore (which has a LOT to do with her lackluster streams imo)… Bey just so happens to have range and a lack of anticipation/promo to follow up certain things regarding the trilogy, videos etc.. Bey heavily relies on elevating her music on tour/visually. She ain't a singles artists in that regard. This is why I'm still convinced that a film is in the works. People need to SEE her.

Regarding the visuals:

If we truly ever get those visuals, theres really only 2 possible outcomes in terms of reception:

A) We'll be disappointed because the final outcome will not feel rewarding enough considering the long wait

B) Its going to revolutionize MVs and set a new bar.

I feel like theres no in between. Theres never been a superstat whos taken so many years to work on a project. Its either going to be insanenly incredible or a let down.

Yea. She's going to benefit either which way tho.

She's often been front loaded bc between the fans, haters and casuals… ppl are locked in when it comes to her first week/month. Even with all the trolls and hate threads against her going on here as of late. Those OP's are craving her on the low. Especially in this boring ass climate, musically. It is time for a change and Bey is the typically the one to make that change and be the talk of all talks (I'm anticipating a Netflix/other 3 part streaming series for example)

But you are right! We should also be prepared for disappointment.

I've never been disappointed by her art, ever. Maybe her timelines, maybe her hands off approach, but never by the actual product... Y'all are starting to get too wrapped up in your weird smear campaigns because you're bored

I hope y'all are fully prepared for her to be completely dragged harder than ever before for not only attending, but hosting the Met Gala in a couple months. No one wants to see celebs in expensive outfits while the country is burning down. Downvote me but I hope she cancels. It's just too tone deaf. Unless she makes a statement which we know she won't.

who gives a **** about her getting dragged by braindead morons on titter atp ? it shouldn't even bother any of us anymore and it clearly doesn't bother her

Are they supposed to cancel all yearly events that have been happening for decades just because people won't like that celebs are appearing in expensive outfits while their country is in the bad situation? Lol

And then u realize the MET Gala is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute rip

To be very honest, this applies to the entirety of RENAISSANCE (sans maybe CHURH GIRL sorry) She did something pretty unprecedented in the current pop/R&B landscape with that album by taking a genre like Dance, which for many people sounds like a very specific thing, and making it not only universal and far-reaching with its scope, but also incredibly digestible while still being largely experimental and ahead of the curve.

There really isn't a single song that doesn't somehow flip the conventions of its established genre on its head, either by introducing anachronistic sonic elements or by completely subverting what one would expect from its lyrics/melodies. There's the fusion of rap/gospel/soul on an electronic club banger like BMS, or the experimental rap-singing strewn across the more traditional dance backdrop of ITG, or the literal mish-mash of cunty ballroom with 70s glam disco in PURE/HONEY.

Bey first used the phrase sonic cinema in reference to The Gift, but I don't think there's ever been an album more aptly described as such than RENAISSANCE. Visuals or no, that record front to back is a relentless f*cking experience.

I still would like those visuals, though.

no reinterpretations or covers with terrible lyrics, especially not something as predictable as Purple Rain or The Best. and no big name collabs beatfreak

The way I could write with the exact same reverence about COWBOY CARTER. Oh, Hasbeyn...
