Perrie - 'Perrie'

Why on earth have HMV got the pink vinyl up for £8-£10 more than the indie vinyl shops.

Repeated weird behaviour from people acting like Jesy doesn't exist, grow up.  Are you guys 12?

? Quote me if you have an issue

I'm intending to be respectful. She's not pursuing music right now afaik and was not in the band when it went on hiatus. Would you prefer I say "yess all the girls but jesy are going to make it to the finish line!!" ?

edit: oh, I understand now. This must just be a projection attempting to assign negative intention to my post whereas you are actively trashing on Leigh Annes releases over in her thread. Yikes.

really tried to love the new single, but it's just… okay-ish? :coffee2:

i mean, i like it, but i don't see how it's a step up from her previous singles – i'd say Forget About Us and especially You Go Your Way were better.

and that's why I also don't understand her scrapping the debut album (at least some of the songs/singles she released earlier), if IHWTHW is EXACTLY the style of the previous singles.

She seems to suggest another song will come out before the album!

Forget About Us is an average song but the melody in the bonfire smoke on your hoodie that I stole from your flat line is still most pleasing to my ears

Just listened to If He Wanted To He Would and it immediately reminded me of Told You So from LM5

YGYW is really good and emotional too. that's why it made the album. and all these comments saying she's 'finally' using her vocals clearly haven't heard that song. she literally belts her ass off in every song even Tears :rip:

I'm hoping for some more vinyl variants this week :jonny:

Surely a possibility if the merch will drop soon?

I hope 2-2 (the song she wrote with Raye) made it to the album!

Truly!

Tears is boring, and Rollercoaster's production is cheap

but her vocals are great in everything she touches.

Me Myself and You not being on the album tells me she just has an even better ballad or two to share though, so that's alright.

YGYW, FAU and IHWTHW are all killer tracks. I get the impression she just pushed herself to make the whole album at that level and more cohesive, whereas the other tracks felt like an odd mix.

I assume another single? Because the current one isn't taking off

Were you expecting a song to take off with no promo and playlisting support?

Its just very confusing. Why would her label go all in on having an album coming in a few weeks and not promote it :coffee2:

I think its fairly obvious why they're throwing everything out now. I doubt Perrie will be able to promote later on in the year. If she sat on the material for another year she might have outgrown the sound. The single cover was shot back in March last year with the FAU promo.

Perrie did a little interview for The Hundred gig she booked a few months ago saying she was begging the label to release music before the gig so that might have something to do with it also.

On a unrelated note if anyone is bothered and is able to can they please edit Perrie's wiki to remove rollercoaster and MM&I as singles on her discography. They were listed as promotional songs before so no idea why its been changed :deadvision:

Imo this album release is just a contract fulfilment exercise. They've already invested a bunch in her career, they're probably trying to minimise losses and tie up the loose ends. Really wouldn't be surprised if she steps away from music after this album comes out.

The Sun claims she has a song about Jesy titled 'Goodbye My Friend' and that it's a 'love letter' to Jesy.

I mean this record is released through her imprint, which probably already limited her budget in change for more creative freedom. Even if she gets dropped/fullfills by Sony, and still would want to make music. She always could sign a licensing/distribution deal by an other label umbrella or go independent under her own imprint

it is but i also expect it to have good longevity in streaming. her fanbase is not huge but i think this will stay in rotation for a while until the next LM release, which could also boost it. the album is at 40m spotify streams right now, i think it has a good chance to reach 70-100m or more in the long term. she might step back but i can imagine her doing more performances down the line, she looks very happy on stage solo and even seems to enjoy dancing and doing the promo stuff. flopping discourages artists but it's also the shady behind the scenes stuff that we don't see- which I don't think Perrie is subject to anymore. this album has overall been a positive experience for her.

I wouldn't say they've invested that much in her career. She has created her own home studio which is where the album was majority recorded and promo, especially since the end of Tears had been drastically cut. She would be better off independent and dropped but it feels like a certain narrative "flop / failure" is trying to be dropped onto Perrie now by the LM / solo Jade stans.

The fact we're even getting an album is a positive. No one is expecting it to perform well - not even Perrie. Perrie isn't hungry for success or to be a pop star, she's done that and she clearly just wants to sing on stage and make some songs she loves.
