Gorgeous is a rap song. 

It does get better with every listen because you start t distinguish the melodies, productions, catching small details and letting them marinate and season in your psyche. 

 

The problem with some cohesive albums is that it can all sounds very samey when you ingest everything in one big dose.  Songs usually sound better and better after the 4-5 listens anywhere so keep listening ******* 

I gave a quick listen to the most of the album.

 

Just by playing a few songs here and there not even in full, this to me sounds not simply her best album, but one of the best offerings in terms of diversity and versatility from a pop girl in years.

 

The way she rides every single beat witb digferent flows, voices, switching effortlessy from rapping and singing, from high pitched vocals to raw and deep tones… it's almost overwhelming. 

 

I don't care about commercial success but I really hope she gets her flowers for her work here because it's outstanding. When you combine her talent as a musician, a vocalist, a rapper, a performer, an entertainer. The amout of talent that's shown here is just incredible.

Finished my first listen, but I didn't get to listen in a way that I like to digest new albums, so I'll wait to judge the full project.

 

AAAHH MEN and Lipstain were my two standouts on first listen though

the best thing about Doja is how much personality she injects into her music. she can have the most gorgeous, catchy melody and have unhinged lyrics layed over, soo good

...then I LOVED it

Her inflection on All Mine was perfecttt

 

I felt the spirit of Carly on Come Back lol... a really great album from miss Doja

I'm hearing some slight Kanye delivery on Gorgeous

A cohesive album but quite unremarkable at first listen.

 

All the songs sound the same and there's no really standout except for "Jealous Type" and maybe "Act of Service". It feels like she tries to make an entire album taken inspiration from Agora Hills without achieving that high

this album is soooo immaculate. she knew exactly what she was doing when she walked into the studio, sat Jack Antonoff down and said "I want to make a classic" and that's exactly what she did. Bravo to miss Cat.
