Doja just announced she's releasing the lead single for her fifth album in a couple of weeks

 

The song is inspired by Janet/New Jack Swing and has been teased for some months now. However the sound might be a little risky in current music landscape

 

We also know Doja is not a debut girl, but her songs always show longevity 

 

What are your predictions for its commercial performance ?

It's hard to predict chart-wise/commercially when it comes to Doja. She can randomly flop / smash.  I mean for example she was floppin hard before Pain the Town Red and then she flopped after PTTR

 

I kinda hope that she flops this time because of her recent antics regarding the Musty shirt incident.

I feel like the GP are ready for her comeback

It really depends on the song itself. She doesn't have a huge, loyal, fan base. She relies more on going viral.  However, her core fanbase is big enough to secure at least a top 40 debut. Her hits usually depend on going viral on TikTok or just dropping something that is undeniably a hit. Unless it's a hit on first listen or goes viral on TT, we will have another Attention situation.

idk if the gp feels this way to the same extent though so maybe it could be a moderate hit for her

I wouldn't be shocked if it flopped

Her new sound is unexpectedly commercial in what is proving to be a lean year for many other artists. This could be her biggest album yet.

Could be either massive or flop like Attention. I feel like this is going to serve as the Attention-style promo opener for the era and Take Me Dancing turning into the PTTR type smash in the fall 

top 10 hopefully but it's hard to say

 

she had 2 hits on her last album

i think it will perform similar to attention but let's see

she always manages to get a hit every era

no? agora hills was a big hit as well, i still hear it play now and then to this day
