Advice on relapsing?

Well, I haven't been addicted to any substance. But from what I've learned, relapsing comes due to emotional imbalance.

Is there any particular reason you went back to it? Have you told your therapist?

don't fall into the shame trap and think you've lost all progress, if you go to the gym every week for 2 years then stop for a week that doesn't mean you lost all your progress. you feel like crap cau

If you were able to maintain your sobriety for 2 years, you can do it again and for even longer. Addiction is a disease and you shouldn't beat yourself up over it. You have every right to be devastated but keep the faith and don't give up. Start fresh by getting rid of any enablers or suppliers in your life. You can do it and don't let anybody convince you that you can't. Likewise, don't allow anybody to shame you for what you are dealing with. Each day is a new opportunity to start fresh.

My brother has struggled with addiction for most of his life. The one thing I can say is to not believe that your relapse means that you have to throw away all the progress you've made thus far. This may reset the clock on the number of days you've been sober, but it doesn't negate the work you've put in to date. I hope you can enter treatment as soon as possible and wish you all the luck in the world. Never stop trying.

So, two days ago I relapsed and had a whole meth binge by myself. I've been sober for two years and it all happened so quick and randomly that it felt like I've went on auto mode with the sole reason of finding drugs, like my brain shut down. I've now slept for 8 hours but unsure how to process this, and I'm feeling depressed/lonely/devastated. Advice or thoughts? :gaycat7:

Also frame it as a slip, not as a full blown relapse.
