Does anyone else gets depressed during their BDay?

Featured Replies

:coffee2: I just wished this day to be over ASAP. How do you cope with this feeling if it gets to you?

No, if anything it makes me happier knowing that I'm one step closer to death

I don't think I've ever been happy during my birthday tbh :skull: Even less so now though

Focus on the new possibilities, look at it like a new years eve, make resolutions for things you want to do that you haven't done or look back at things you never thought you'd achieve but you did, small or big. I think there is a positive attitude that can be taken. Happy birthday

well, instead of waiting for gifts, maybe you can make yourself happy. like buy yourself a cake, a drink, or eat at a fancy restaurant, give yourself a treat...

anw, happy bday

Honestly yes, always. It just makes me think about all the things in my life I wish were better. That I was more confident, successful, attractive, and had more friends. But I'm working on it. I hope by my 30th birthday in 2 years I will be truly happy

No, I tend to romanticize it one way or another. I've never been one to want to have a big birthday bash, or anything of that nature; the one time I did have one, I was just ready for it to be over. I simply just like doing what I like, low-key and simple, to where I don't even have a reason to be depressed. I'm content.

No, because I don't look it which allows me a greater degree of fluidity and control over how I present to the world and no-one needs to know when it actually is anyway.

Yes, but not every year and not for age reasons. All the birthday texts/calls/social media shoutouts give me anxiety. Also, if I'm spending my birthday at home, doing nothing, that makes me feel a little sad as well; but if I do have plans with friends, I always tell them not to spend the whole time acknowledging that it's my birthday because I don't want the attention. I'm a ball of confusion :rip:

100% especially the last 3 years

Having a birthday with no friends or boyfriend. Your getting older your believing I'm too old to find a partner now then I get even more depressed and yeah it's the darkest day of the year for me

yeah and it doesn't help that my birthday is in January so my seasonal depression is in full effect already. you have to put the dread of getting older on top.

so basically i'm on suicide watch whenever my birthday comes along

I've never been the type to make a big deal out of my B'day so...it's definitely not very exciting. I'm odd. I want attention in a sense (like...I want to belong...be welcome), but I don't think I can handle THAT MUCH attention. This is also why I don't really dream of a wedding; it feels so awkward, like I have to live up to all that attention. I CAN'T!

I'm weird. I can barely hold a conversation because I don't know what to say; I'm not used to being a chatter box like a lot of people (I grew up lonely and very "inward"). I'm boring. Long story short...I do get sad a lot because I see how others go all out with lavish spectacles. I envy, although I could have it too if I really wanted to. I'm mostly depressed because no one is around who really understands me.

People who get you don't ever ridicule your condition, but they instead genuinely understand and might even help you heal. I've never had that kind of person in my life.
