first single is 12 minute two part mournful soul jam "bookends", hope of a return to the end to end pop funk bangers of "in a poem unlimited" seems a bit unlikely but they're always worth a listen

yeah, i enjoy bits of it but esp the first two songs i really have to be in the mood for them or they absolutely just slide off of me. tux is a bop tho

ugly cover, confusing first single choice, but let's see. I didn't love bless this mess, but half free-in a poem unlimited-heavy light is a wonderful run

excited for this! Bless This Mess was a letdown, but the fact that she made albums like Half Free and In a Poem Unlimited makes me think that she'll always have something special in her

if you look on the itunes store you can't buy it separately cos it's too long to be sold outside the album but also they haven't put it up separately, i imagine it's something to do with that.

 

rollout for this album has been weird in general, the song was dropped before there was any promo stuff at all, feels like a bit of an afterthought (tho you could say that releasing a miserable 12 minute soul tune as yr lead single is not giving off "i am promoting my album and want people to listen to it" vibes anyway)

 

my take on bless this mess is probably a bit more positive than most, i think it's more or less fine once it gets going - tux, so typically now and screen face esp are real top tier meg - but it has such a weird production in places, like a kind of airless early 80s jazz sound, i really have to be in the mood for some of it or i just turn it off straight away

new single! listening now, snappier than the other one, quite 70s retro vibes again tho

giving this a first listen rn 

it's cute. it just feels like something we've already heard from her, she needs to switch it up. Bookends is the clear highlight.

this is cute! the first half is kinda samey unfortunately but Bookends to the end is v nice

I enjoyed this quite a lot, much better than BTM

i'm about halfway thru this and i'm enjoying it as well, i think the 60s/70s soul vibe suits her, feels very old school and live in studio (completely the opposite of bless this mess)

 

experience tells me to wait a bit before buying it, they'll be giving the vinyl away by christmas lol
