Album is... an interesting hodge podge.  Circle Of Trust and I Love Her Shadow are easily the best songs but the album as a whole isn't that cohesive.

I'm kind of amazed how their albums are getting progressively worse, it seems (disclaimer that I did enjoy some tracks on Everything Now)? Unless Regine is leading the vocals on a song, its very unlikely that I will like it since I find Win's vocal tone and delivery like nails on chalkboard on this album, especially with some of the mixing choices they seem to be going with lately. I do enjoy Year of the Snake and I agree with @Hector that Circle of Trust and I Love Her Shadow are standouts. Such a shame, since the opening track was so promising for setting such an interesting scene for the rest of the album.

First listen and the title track (!), Year of the Snake and Circle of Trust are stand outs so far. The rest… I really don't know 

 

I thought the reviews were gonna be deceiving because of Win's allegations but it just isn't that good of an album 

I just listened to I Love Her Shadow & Pink Elephant and I gotta say this is an interesting vibe. Maybe because my brain is filtering out the lyrics I'm finding it enjoyable. I was tired of their grand "art" rock sound so the minimalistic soundscape sounds good to me. I like the analog sounds with space between instruments in the mix.

 

I'll definitely not listen to this album again tho. Just checking out to see how it sounds.

 

They are a much better live instrument band than a synth dance band. They sound incredibly pretentious doing the pop Bowie thing. The Abba thing was even worse.

Win Butler's allegations are the least surprising thing to me. I find his cancellation unfair, knowing many artists who've done much worse things being celebrated without any asterisk. But his and the band's "we are a commun of love, we breathe love, our bodies are a cage to express love" beta male personification always felt icky (and manipulatory at best, predatory at worst). and their not so non chalant branding of "modern pure lovers" felt more and more phony with each album. Reflektor was the turning point of the brand vs. the music. The hype was bigger than the quality. I absolutely loved that album in 2013 but it's a pretentious schlock of a mess. I feel like the stripping down in this album came way too late. They are an awful Talking Heads tribute band. Of course the frontman of the band who makes music for guys to get in girls' pants using romanticism is a thirsty college girl f****r.
