How is everything still sold out in America.. how were vinyls not ready.. such a mess.

 

She wont have a good second week hold when you literally cant buy any physicals.. 

 

Literally, the only thing available for purchase in America is digital download.

these numbers arent good tbh its basically lisa's with even less pure sales

Theres a huge difference tho: Lisa had vinyls, Jennie achieved that with streaming and digital sales only. Its safe to say Jennie couldve debuted with around 90-100k units if she had vinyls ready cause thats whete Kpop artists usually sell.

Jennies Ruby is one of the strongest albums in terms of debut streams among Kpop artists for a reason

nayeon and jihyo didnt have vinyls either and they sold 57k each

kpop stans and blinks dont give a **** about vinyls - they'll buy any physical copy with photocards

 

jennie's streaming numbers are great but the physical/pure sales should've been bigger tbh #7 with 56k is just not it. lisa tanked with the same peak and numbers

 

oh well I hope she keeps promoting this and coachella gives the album stability cause its genuinely one of the best albums to come out of kpop

Anyway, lets also look at context: Jennie went up against Gaga herself, so for her to be able to compete like that is also great seeing how a portion of Gaga stans would've certainly otherwise given their attention to Jennie.

guys I have a genuine question — is "Handlebars" a Dua Lipa song? I mean, was it written for one of Dua Lipa's projects and shelved until now?

 

it really sounds like that to me, which makes me enjoy it (but also wish for a solo demo to scratch that itch). very curious about how this song came about.

yeah she did so good. I just wish the pure sales were bigger that's all

 

I think a huge chunk of her fanbase are still blinks and blinks are overwhelmed with the amount of music we got in the last 3 months and jennie's also the last member to release so...

Whole album is still on repeat, she truly did that

I read Dua only has credit because she wrote her verse. I think she isn't credited in the solo version.  So it's not automatically her song.

yeah I remember reading somewhere that it was written for Tate McRae (who has previously worked with the same writers - and Dua never has that we know of), it went to Jennie and Dua wrote her verse which is why Jennie's solo version is so short

The Twice girls also had 3 variants each (at least) ready to go on release day. Ruby just had the CD versions available in stores on release day, many of the K-Pop stores near me just got the two book versions this past weekend. 

seoul city has crack in it istg, because wtf

they could fly some of those albums to the US then  just a thought, but what if she'd get bigger physical week because of the delays in shipping?

Jyp groups and artist sell copies on ktown that apparently count for billboard. It doesn't make sense they have this strong of a fanbase but get 0 streams. They also had more variants and didn't have to buy/support 3 members in a month. Lisa sold 11k less with vinyls and more variants. Jennie selling 1m globally but such low numbers in America physically show something was up and stuff was out of stock and not shipped. KPOP fans do care about vinyls.

vinyls would have greatly helped an artist like jennie. her american fans are not mindless photocard collectors, theyre in the MPG vein. she's going for MPG territory so she should act like it: drop the vinyls! the bp girls definitely did cannibalize each other with the back-to-back releases though, that's the main reason they're doing lower in pure than nayeon and jihyo (and barely above tzuyu lol).
