I think its that their group harmony in the chorus is so mid in comparison to the legendary SNSD or Red Velvet ones from back in the day which are what made those cutesy songs great.

 

This is why you need vocalists, its not just about adlib screeching or live vocals it also elevates every aspect of the music

not really. aespa's teasers are pure art and are different from whatever mess every single group from other companies is doing atm. i dont say this because i'm a sheep but there's still something high brow about their output compared to the rest of kpop rn and they're constantly putting out something new. irene and seulgi's EP is amazing too and very much in SM's style. when it comes to H2H, i think they're extremely limited because of the members' age, but the music is still high quality. the chase is easily one of the best songs released this year

 

i do agree the members are faceless and lack talent compared to other SM groups though…
